Alan Rickman RIP

Another one gone at 69 to cancer

Gutted , a great British actor.

Lemmy Bowie and now Rickman all same age all cancer in a few days

There’s a real feeling of déja vu about this.

Excellent actor. RIP.

Such a fiercely attractive man with the sexiest voice. So sad :frowning:

A gifted actor and very sad yet again and all these icons going soon. RIP

A very decent guy as well as a top actor. RIP

blimey, dropping like flies. RIP

The only reason that Robin Hood King of Thieves was such a success, brilliantly overacted “You my room 8 o’clock, you my room 8:10…and bring a friend”

Oh for fucks sake. 2016 is not a good year so far. RIP Hans.

One of my favorite actors :lou_sad:

It may be wrong, but that did make me chuckle.

Great actor that managed to elevate whatever he was in through performance. Die Hard is a great example; lowbrow action film made so much better for Rickman being in it that it feels oddly classy.

I also loved him in Galaxy Quest, doing his turn as a put upon sci fi star living in the shadow of Tim Allen’s show-stealing lead.

By Grabthar’s hammer, you shall be avenged.

RIP

I had him down firmly in the “Luvvie” bracket after Truly Madly Deeply but he redeemed himself in Galaxy Quest. The best performance (alongside Sigourney’s cleavage).

He was great in Love Actually as well, and as Snape in the Hairy Botter films.

Didn’t know he was Marvin’s voice in the Hitch Hikers remake.

Loved him stealing the show in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Seemed like a very good actor who had an excellent sense of timing. RIP.

Met him once back in 1986 or thereabounts in a pub in Stratford upon Avon after having seen him (and Juliet Stevenson) in As You Like It at the RSA Theatre (fuck me how cultured I was at 17). Had a conversation about beer. Was completely unassuming, happy to chat and take time with us pretentious student wannabes and was just very down to earth. Next time I see him its Hans ‘bring me my fucking detonators’ Gruber… Top man.

RIP

He gets extra Kudos for making Kevin Costner look shit - although Kevin could probably do that all by himself… frequently…

Galaxy Quest is a better Trek film than most Trek films. It really is a little piece of magic. It pulls the very neat trick of taking the piss out of its inspiration and Trek’s fandom, but treats them all with reverence at the same time.
