Barry, know much about Prevent? Not sure it would come under PC gone mad. Though I have some reservations about it. The clue is in the title.
The school asked for advice. That’s what they should do if worried about a child. Do we honestly know it’s the first or only time he has looked at EDL site? (Ukip as mentioned are a political party do would be a bit odd to pursue that). His parent say so but do parents truly know what their teenagers are doing all the time?
And people do often wonder why. Why you put such random thread titles. Context is super helpful.

Clearly you have no idea regarding the law and the schools responsability to report things like accessing the EDL site, which is deemed as extreame right wing and automatically flagged up.
Schools, due to the law, will vear to the side of caution. Once it’s be passed on to the safeguarding team it’s then up to them how they proceed, not the school.

I think I’ll wait for the dust to settle and see if further facts emerge before going too knee-jerk hankie-waving.
It sounds too much like the story of the poor bloke with the union jack coat who was stopped by the council from wearing it because it would offend Muslims, or the Tesco that wouldn’t serve soldiers.
Those two stories were made up - let’s see if any little bits have been overlooked in the reporting of this one…
