Now I am not talking about bands/Artists that it was not possible to see as you were either to young or maybe not even born, but bands in your lifetime that were still going when you were at an age to buy tickets for them.
Hear is my frustrating list of never seens!
Aerosmith - never managed to get hold of tickets or be at a festival they were at. Then tickets went on sale a few years back, for over £100 each! Left it.
REM - many chances to go and see them but always left it to late, then they split!
Avenged Sevenfold - rarely come to the UK, when they do they sell out in minutes. Could have got tickets a couple of years ago, but tour date was while on holiday.
Band of Skulls - not been going to long, but still not managed to find a convenient date. Local Southampton band as well.
Royal Blood - had tickets twice, was ill once and work prevented the other one. Also supported the Foo’s at Edinburgh last year but got stuck in traffic and missed them.
There will be others, but slipped my mind at the moment.
Primal Scream, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against The Machine all in their pomp would have been good.
Keep narrowly missing out on The Subways each time I’m back in UK, due to other committments, very frustrating as they have been doing gigs near to where I was each time, however I was fortunate to have seen them in Dubai a good few years back!!
Seen the Subways many many times. We’re brilliant when they were first on the scene as 18 year olds about, 11/12 years ago (blimey) Charlotte was the main reason for popping along, a real rock chic!
I’ve seen a lot of the greats…what I like now is to discover someone new, low key, not well known to see them at a small intimate club or venue peopled by others who’ve also just discovered them too and want to LISTEN and not fuckin’ sing along to every song. JUST LISTEN and appreciate without spoiling other’s enjoyment.
It’s great to discover a new band in a small venue, if you can hear them above the fuckers chatting at the back, but when they eventually get big it isn’t fair - they are yours…you own them.
Nirvana. Missed out on a chance to see them twice. First at Portsmouth (yeah I know) student union when in my first year. Gig was scheduled before SLTS hit big and a mate had tipped me off about them. Then everything went huge and the gig was cancelled last minute. Back in those days there was no social media or mobiles so we only found out when we rocked up and found the notice on the door.
I also missed out on their legendary Reading Festival appearance as I was too skint for a ticket. My brother went just to rub salt in the wounds.
To be fair, hit or miss is more appropriate. Couldn’t decide between them and Radiohead at Glastonbury in 1997. Went for the latter at the last moment and glad I did. Radiohead were amazing and from the reports Primal Scream were shocking.

I was a student in Newport in the early 90’s. TJ’s was a legendary venue, I kind of missed out on Oasis, Nirvana, Manics who all played there while I was 3 miles away watch Eastenders or something

Yes, and someone needs to address those people. Pap would do it if he were here but the caretaker manager that he’s left in charge doesn’t seem capable of managing the site.
