Beelzebub's Official Match thread: Klopp's Nivia 'softlads' vs The Mighty Demons of Southampton

Bazza could be right. Let’s have a Pulis, Barton, Cattermole, Van Wolfswinkel, Rhodes dream team.

Downvote for the nightmares that that scenario is going to give me

Upvote for the humour, I hope…

Still think Big Sam would be a good long term option

I went to the Pub because there were a lot of tourist Saints fans in town and was good to meet up. I won’t be going again until things change - it simply is not worth it and the cash I spend there will buy us 5* dinners in Cambodia at Christmas.

I am CONVINCED it is not MP that is the problem. At the end of last season I THOUGHT it was Puel that was the problem, sorry to so many but the same thing is happening. I am now convinced it is the Southampton Way that is the issue.

I do not imagine for a moment that Gao will give a damn. I simply cannot see that he will care when his prize is far larger than the fortunes of a football club. If anything our stadium is worth more money to him as housing or a Shopping Mall. Equally Ralph will not get involved so that leaves Les. Les sets the strategy.

So I do not expect anything to change no matter how many social media campaigns get organised.

The ONLY thing that matters now is at 00:001am on 1st January. Either we refresh things OR we will simply stay shit.

A great strength of the new Saints (ie post Lowe) is that we are a Corporate Entity with Professionalism and Departments and Support Staff.

The great weekness of thise structures is that they destroy creativity flair and imagination. It is impossible to find an MBA who learnt from a book coming up with a judgement based on experience. Les is not that person either. Puel (and MP) are also dour text book.

My big moan about (most) events in Dubai - ie the Rugby 7’s - is that they have become Corporate Bollocks to fit a formula to make the sponsors get an RoI. They are NOT for the fans.

To me Saints have now become a Corporate Entity.

It needs a visionary and a leader. And NOT at Team / Squad level - Ralph has simply vanished.

To me it proves once again that NC simply found a 5 year business plan in Andrew Cowens’ desk drawer. The 5 years have ended and nobody has had the brains or imaginatioin to build a new one. An MBA without a plan is like a Dalek with a tea towel on his eye stalk - fucking useless and thrashing in all directions.

And we have become a Corporate Bollocks of a Football Club.

Just wait for the next “Tweet” to enforce that.

Gao doesn’t want his money back or to asset strip us. He wants a billion pound mega development. We are (were) just the PR budget for that

You want psychos? Perhaps we should bring back Osvaldo? We dont need nutters, we need people who can put the ball in the net.

Just because they havent said anything to you, it doesnt mean they havent said anything. I should imagine that a lot has been said behind close doors. I remember the shit that Lowe used to get for spending so much time in the media. The internet warriors at the time were saying that he should do his talking within the club and not through the press. Now our internet warrior says that the new owners need to share everything with us. Cant win can they? You make some pretty big assumptions. Why not trying to assume that they have bought the club to try and take it forward and are working on those plans quietly and behind close doors. Not only will it be better for your blood pressure, it also will stop you boring the fuck out of the rest of us.

I dont find it boring. The club owners have let us down. They told us they would be transparent and they havent been. They told us they would be ambitious and they havent been.

And it is not like they have tried but failed at being transparent or tried and failed to be ambitious . It is simply that they havent tried. They have taken the easier route and treated the supporters of the club like car rental customers. In other words they have told lies and half truths

When did they say this and what did they say? Barry’s first statement above says the opposite.

Who is right?

As for being ambitious, wouldn’t it be best to give them a transfer window? I don’t hold out much hope either, but January is the first real opportunity they will have.

And it is not like they have tried but failed at being transparent or tried and failed to be ambitious . It is simply that they havent tried. They have taken the easier route and treated the supporters of the club like car rental customers. In other words they have told lies and half truths

Again, what are these half truths and lies and when exactly have they had time to try and what should they try?

I’m finding this more confusing than trying to work out what the players are doing(or not).

There’s no rush. It’ll be a lot easier & realistic & cheaper to show ambition in the Championship.

So near 100% near “their” the clubs potential, that excludes other clubs potential so is an elastic term designed for idiots to lap up, he said nothing there other than they want non paying overseas fans on board as they can buy a shirt.

They must think we’re fucking stupid.

What an interesting sentence.

Agreed

Thanks Bob, but @newyorksaint was talking about our present owners. Just wondered if I had missed/forgotten a statement from them about their plans for the club. Blackmore being refused an interview at some point this year is hardly conclusive proof of anything.

Think i will still wait until the end of January before making a decision.

Nha, phuket, let’s jump to snap decisions now shall we :lou_lol:

However it does concern me that come January, if we don’t start winning games, then we are going to be in a relegation scrap that we might not pull out of.

Ffs tripzy it’s Phang Nga Phuket.

Meanwhile.

We don’ need a new manager.

We need Lemons back.

Hth

Nelly and Kat have both got Southampton advent calenders

just Nellys is bigger

Lol … drink or drugs NYC ?

Took me a moment to realise…

The best person to replace Pellegrino? Er… Tony Pulis

So what kind of manager do Saints need to succeed Pellegrino? Someone with experience of Premier League relegation struggles, obviously. A manager with a track record of successful firefighting, who will organise a team of limited talents and hold his nerve under pressure — not one who will see the way out as a £100million January spending spree.

They need a pragmatist, a coach who will not place aesthetics or his personal reputation above the immediate needs of the club; someone who will not care what the critics think, and if that means winning ugly or scrapping for a point, then so be it.

The fans may be willing to sacrifice elite division status for a more open, entertaining style, but no owner agrees.

Right now, Saints need a manager who will dig in and drill his players to do the same. And there is the dilemma for owner Gao: the ideal man to replace Pellegrino would appear to be Tony Pulis.

If Saints fans carry on moaning, he would be a cert for the job.

Actually the article was by Martin Samuel about West Brom but tbh it fits our dilemna exactly and no, I do not want Pulis
