Bompey v Saints - Match Thread

Well I might as well take the pariah tag…

Hated and despised neighbours or little brother that slightly irritates? Whichever they seem to take the rivalry more seriously than we do.

This could be a tricky little fixture but I have confidence.

Interesting contest. All the pressure is on us, but we’ve got a team that is more than capable of beating them.

Need to maintain concentration throughout this bastard. This weekend wasn’t good enough, and even though we beat them 2-0 last time out, we let them play their own game in the second half.

Seriously deluded fans who don’t understand there is no rivalry at all, only jealousy / hate from some on their side. Many saints fans have long wished them well, which probably winds up their haters even more.

Agree, a tough game but if we can find someone else to score…

Whatever, I’m going to be sat in my local watching the game.

Will be a ratio of about 80% Bompey to 20% Saints fans. Luckily the landlord is a Saints fan

i would like koemans to find way to shoehorn Mane & Tadic into team pls cos they’re our most create players & i miss those bros RIP :lou_sad:

I miss the real Mane, but I can’t remember the last time we saw him.

Gonna have to time my Mumford & Sons murder a bit earlier as it’ll be Karaoke night tomorrow (Yeah I know singers get free drinks, not free food - insert comments about old farts, memory failures and dumping new mates in the poo)

The boys will be at the other end of town @Barasti paying 7 quid a pint I’ll pay 3.80 for my first pint then everything else until about half tiime in our game will be free.

Personally felt we made a mistake against CHelsea with our line up, I know Mane is off form BUT him and Shane Long would have scared Cafoul & co to death and THEN we should have brought Charlie Austin & Tadic on to take the later chances we could hav created.

Against Bompey think we need more guile again. It’s a game made for Tadic Long & Austin but is Shane recovered from his knock?

The ONE thing I hope I never see again are Austin & Pelle on the pitch at the same time UNLESS we are playing hoofball to sneak an equaliser.

Bompey will be organised we need Tadic & Mane as the GuruBear says

we will win this 2-1

We will not win this. There will be a meltdown on StevesWeb.

Fortunately, that will mean it’s all set up for a return to form at my 1st league game of the season (in March!!!) on Saturday.

1st of season, cool TCK. No doubt you will be joining us for the pre-match sermon, bread and fish by Papsus.

That is a distinct possibility. Should be an early start so may well be sufficiently inebriated not to consider meeting some of you a bit strange.

:lou_sad:Can’t make Saturday as fucking inconsiderate folks have some golden anniversary nonsense. I mean, I know it’s 50 years but WTF? I suppose it’s only Sunderland and that’s usually a boring home game.

Going to Bompey tomorrow though thanks to LetsBeDrinking. :lou_lol:

Selfish folks Goaty, they could wait until after 6pm for proper celebrations FFS. In fact, make sure they sink a few on Friday night so that they sleep in until late PM, job done :lou_sunglasses:

Unfortunately I’m doing the catering. 92 guests. Fuckers.

Bollocks just remembered that I have a spare ticket for Sunderland. Next to me of course but no extra charge for that :lou_wink:

May I humbly suggest depositing the price of your meal with the gang at the moment of ordering, just in case you get all distracted…

please don’t disagree with me. We will win.

Looking forward to attending a Tuesday evening match (not enough of them in this league) regardless of result, but we’ll win and all win be well with the world. Until the next mini-meltdown.

I see Lawro has us down for a defeat whereas the MOTD commentator Tony Husband has us down for a win

Tony Husband:"While this is considered the ‘other’ south coast derby, I’m still expecting the atmosphere at the Vitality to be electric. How Bournemouth would relish a first home win in a league contest over Southampton for 58 years.

"However, Eddie Howe’s men will need to find another gear in front of their own fans after losing their last three at home in all competitions.

“Southampton’s New Year surge was halted by Chelsea, but the top six and European football is a very realistic target for a team which I fancy for a strong finish and has a fine defensive record on the road.”

LAWRO’S PREDICTION

I fancy Bournemouth to edge it. The Cherries got a good draw at Watford on Saturday and, although they did not score in that game, they always test the opposition goalkeeper.

Prediction: 2-1

Southampton

Defeat at home to Chelsea at the weekend ended Southampton’s six-match unbeaten run (W5, D1).
The Saints have conceded just 11 goals on their travels, a joint-league high along with Tottenham and Manchester City.
They have also kept six away clean sheets, only Manchester City have kept more with seven.
Southampton have recorded clean sheets in nine of their 11 Premier League victories.
Shane Long has scored in his past two league appearances - he has never scored in three consecutive appearances.
