These are good times for Sotonians, but this shit doesn’t fly itself. As we’ve remarked upon in the procrastination thread, it can be a time-consuming affair keeping this gigantic ship of mirth and geekiness afloat. It’s worth it, but it could be easier. More members would lighten the load.
Bletch and I have discussed membership targets, and it has come up a few times during the drinks events. I think given where we were when we started, we think 1-2 contributing posters a week will see this place in excellent stead over the long term.
I’m still okay with that, but following Spudders’ heroic recruitment efforts yesterday, I realise we could do more. So here’s the plan.
If you get someone to join up and post, I’ll ensure you get 100 points for each poster signed up.
You’ll get another 100 points for each poster still posting at the end of the year.
Two birds. One stone. The site gets more members, and people will have a chance to climb up the leaderboard. I won’t be participating or receiving any points from these efforts.

Frankly, I am not even sure of that. From what I remember, your recruitment seemed to involve you wishing there was a papsweb, Tokes saying there was a papsweb, and you joining papsweb.
Now is that recruitment or is that like someone saying “I could really do with a Maccy Ds right now”, and someone else telling them that there is one close by, and giving them directions?

I think you’re vastly underplaying the Bear’s roaming spirit and wide foraging range. Even back on Stevesweb, he would often shit in places new, like mumsnet or the official Jonas Brothers fan site.
I am confident that his little Bear nose would have:-
a) Sensed something new in the air
b) Sniffed us out
