The Cherries v the Indomitable Saints

Smith claiming that Moss apologised to him post match and said it should have been a penalty.

Yeah right.

Even the pundits on both BBC and Sky could not agree, after several replays.

It’s a shock if Moss gets anything right.

Even the Bournemouth fans I’m drinking with can’t decide if it was a penalty or not…

I assume Moss has also apologised to Wesley Hoedt too then for having his shirt pulled at every corner? No? Oh right, yeah I forgot we don’t play that rule anymore… what’s that? We do?

Yet another ‘rule’ that referees don’t actually enforce. Just like goalkeepers being required to stay on their line at penalties.

I think he got theirs right. Under no circumstances should somebody in that situation fall over with their legs perfectly parallel, jutting out behind them. He looked for it and fell over accordingly in to the contact rather than being naturally brought down whilst maintaining his forward momentum. Point being I think he can stay on his feet there, simply stepping over Boufal. But he didn’t, he decided to leave his legs trailing so that they hit Boufal. He chose to cheat.

With this I totally agree. It’s something I think professionals are trained to do today.

Having played amateur football in my day it’s something we never thought of doing…you simply stepped over them in an attempt to get in a shot, the enjoyment of beating the man who was trying to stop you.

Not much to choose between us and them. We should be better but arnt. Really shit result .

The evloution of Saints into a top Championship team is progressing. If we keep on drawing then it could be we will survive this season in Prem. It all depends on West Ham and the Board

:lou_eyes_to_sky: What do you want in your trough?

There you go @cobham-saint if only I popped some money on. Never beg to differ me

Not quite sure why we should be better than them? When Leicester won the Premiership at least half the teams in the league should have been better than them. Sport is what it is because you can’t predict what is going to happen. We are a mid table team in mid table. At least that much we can be sure of

Jesus wept!

Chopping onions?

What do you expect? Honestly. We are not a top four club. We are fighting with the rest to get higher but why do you think we ought to be there more so than any other medium sized club? I have supported this club for 51 years and in that time we have won the princely sum of one major trophy. We all laugh at Everton and their pretentions, but at least they have been a big club in the past. We have never been a big club, and probably never will be.

Bournemouth calling for a 3 match suspension for bringing the game into disrepute, :lou_wink_2:

I’ve only seen the MotD highlights, but I thought that the ref made the right decision on their penalty-that-wasn’t. If Smith had actually tried to get to the ball, rather than diving (which is exactly what he did), then it would have been a foul, and a penalty. But he didn’t. He dived, and fully deserved the booking that came his way.

The brilliant MotD pundits (Phil Neville and Matt Upson :lou_facepalm_2: :lou_facepalm_2: :lou_facepalm_2:) were adamant that it was a penalty, as according to them his momentum meant that he couldn’t have done anything else. Utter bollocks - he could easily have tried to jump over Boufal’s clumsy attempt to tackle him, and get to the ball that he’d just poked past Boufal. If his momentum had been so overwhelming he’d have gone flying, not fallen straight-legged as he did.

I want the photo just before this where he’s standing on his own in front of their fans making calm down gestures!! It’s got to be right up there with the Beattie cupping his ears at the Pompey fans photo.

You could their fans calling him a fat bastard when he got the ball, so this is his response.

Actually I just read as interview with Charlie where he says the booing (which he found bizarre) was because he didn’t join them on loan once. Silly fuckers.
