Of course if you haven't got a DLNA server in the house then it is all moot anyway.

GA give Baz a break.  He needs a bedroom tv for his Sega Mega Drive.   Those winter nights can drag on.

What are you going for, Barry?   A normal HD panel?  3D? 4K?

VR headset with a latex cockslot?

Be specific!

My wife will probably want that model but it may have to go in another room as I'll be disturbed watching Emmerdale, I want a 22-24" tv, I'll just go for a panny and get a roku, bollocks to smart for now.

We get a lot of engineers on our place from the likes of Panasonic, etc - coming in to make sure that their screens perform correctly.

I'm not sure if this is the case now, or even if it was accurate then, but one of the engineers claimed that there were only a handful of companies actually making screens, and much of that is done for sub-contracting purposes.

If you want companies that really know their screens, you should be looking at the likes of Panasonic, Sony or Samsung.   People say good things about LG, but whenever you look at a best of list, it's always the top-tier tat from those firms that dominates.

Our place is Panasonic and Samsung when it comes to big TVs.   Last two sets were Samsung, both 32", but the first one I bought was far superior to the second.   Honestly consider stuff like build quality, because the 1st screen is solid, while the second, which I assumed would have comparable build quality, I'm not happy with.   I'm probably getting a Panasonic 4K for my next set.

I have an lg 40" which is a belter in the living room and that will replace my sammy series 5 in the lounge in the back next year, I was surprised at how easy the smart tv was to use on the lg, not as good as the big three you mentioned but still good, 4k 49" next for the front room, people say panny over sammy but I have opnly really had samsungs but will try a cheap panny for the bedrom and see how I get on.

Samsung's connectivity has typically been a bit better than Panasonic's judging from two purchases not made too far apart.  I'm sure that a Panasonic can do this now, but my 42" Plasma, still my biggest TV, won't just play a USB drive you've plugged in, whereas the Samsungs will give it a go, at least.

The only bits of LG equipment I've owned were actually the Nexus devices they made for Google.   I had both the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 5.   Both dead now.   I smashed the 5, but the 7 died after a two foot drop (with no smashing whatsoever).    Great performance, but both had poor build quality.

I'll get a 22" panny from Argos as they are doing a great deal on roku sticks.
