Maybe more to this story than meets the eye.
Rumours he was pushed and things a bit of a mess at moment internally.
Think is most likely that simply the ceo found a new job and has been put on gardening leave for period of his notice. Internal restructure would be sensible as no point making an external appointment if take over is happening soon and they intend on putting own people in.
After all this would be the first time he had resigned from saints
