Really, really annoying this. I know JW-P isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but he is ours and been developed by us. Are the “Big 4” really that incapable of developing their own talent?

Oh and the second bit about Jack Wilshere, apart from it nor being a surprise what is that doing in a Saints focussed Twitter?

They all have their own development programmes but are the top 4 because they hoover up the best available talent (thus also depriving anyone else from getting them). JWP is getting Guly sized grief at the other place at the moment - but you watch the meltdown if a bigger clubs signs him up!

I have made a point of constantly defending JWP at the other place. He’s a quality player, only 20 and will have a bright future in the game. I don’t understand why the expectation of him is that he should be a 8-10 goal a season attacking midfielder!

That aside, with FFP in place the big four don’t need to develop their own talent. They can just buy everyone else’s homegrown players to fill the champions league spots not filled by their multi billion pound purchases.

It is because we are great. We are the shining light for the youth set up in the country. Don’t complain it bumps up our bank balance, which we use some of to revamp our squad.

I really do honestly think it works well. If you have a slightly good young English player, you get over the odds for them. Then like Southampton do now, we reinvest in foreign players which are cheaper and sometimes better, but mostly just as good to do the job (Spider-Man aside).

Just look at the players we have produced and sold that are young and English, our they really doing that great at their clubs, apart from the wage packets and add on?

Good policy in my opinion.

Yes, I agree. I like him a lot. He’s not yet consistent, but when he gets it right you can see his big potential. On the other place they can only see things in terms of pace, tackling, scoring or dribbling. They struggle to grasp the less tangible.

True story. There’s also a distinct inability to realise that not all our players are Walcott/Chamberlain/Bale and that there’s a big difference between 20 and 24 year old players.

My brief foray over there to try and point out JWPs strong possesion stats and distance covered at the weekend only served to remind me what a hot bed of idiocy that place can be and why I thought I’d try this haven of free speech and developed reading/thinking skills!

Don’t you dare come over here and spout your misguided opinions on what constitutes a good player. How dare you sirrah!!

Everyone knows that if a player hasn’t made it by 20 they never will, and don’t you dare bring up Lambert, or any of the 100s of other examples that have, they’re all the exceptions that prove the rule.

And we all know that if a player can’t score, especially an attacking player, then they are not worth much.

Back into your box with you my man.

Just joshing in case that dcoesn’t come over!!!

I guess I’ll stop posting.

It’s fine Tripz, it’s pretty easy to tell that people here are amiable and like a joke but are also able to reason sensibly when they dont agree!
