Who is doing their recruitment?!

Les Reed

Nah it was Lallana, in his spare time while not scoring any goals.

Norwich paying £8.5m for Naismith :lou_lol:

It seems that QPR have pretty much been forced into this sale

I don’t really like these cunts who run down their contracts, although it’s pretty sweet when ur on the right end of it. Austin ain’t too bad I suppose, cos I figure it was more QPR doing their trademark fiscal risk-taking, than him particularly wanting to play in the Championship, but cunts like what Ings done to Burnley, and i.e. Clyne done to Palace, and to a lesser extent, us. They should make it so that if a bro declines an Improved Contract, that is the same as a Transfer Request, meaning bros forfit Loyalty Bonuses etc. That’s the way to put a stop to this cuntish behaviour IMO.

Agree. That’s a good bit of business for Norwich.

Really? He’s overpriced by at least £3.5m IMHO.

General consensus amongst my L3 Sports students is that Austin is “a fooking cracking deal”.

what if the club offers a 10 year contract on £1 a week more?

I would be ok with that. Sign it, or Fuck Off, Victor. Choice is yours.

Market innit. I reckon that’s a good deal. Would’ve been happy if we’d signed him…pre-Charlie Austin obviously.

Sorry to do a Baz and repeat myself, but there’s next to no point looking at fees when Prem clubs are involved. Every team has too much money (I heard on the radio t’other day just being in the Prem for a season basically guarantees you’ll be amongst the richest 30/40 clubs in the world).

It’s all daft, and it’s only going to get worse when the new TV deal kicks in next season.

He’s a decent player, and it’s probably not that awful a fee. Think it does highlight further what a steal Austin was though.

Got to say I’d have been 'kin livid if we’d signed him. One of those players who I’ve never seen what the fuss is about.

The Scottish Steven Davis.

If he scores 5 league goals and Norwich stay up I think they’ll be happy with the fee.

After what West Ham came out with the other day this kind of made me laugh, a lot…

West Ham are set to make an £18m offer for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, 26, as Reds boss Jurgen Klopp looks to have decided to cash in on the player.(Brentwood Gazette)

Interview that Austin did recently…

I went to Southampton and that’s when I first came across a lot of different mentalities, through the fact that there were lads from different cultures and countries in the squad.

At the start, under Ronald Koeman, there was no problem because of his presence. He brings a big aura with him because of who he is and where he’s been. The first thing you learn from him is never, but never, be late for team meals. It was well documented that he kept Sadio (Mane) out of a big game once and everybody was wondering why and it was simply because Sadio had been late for a meeting. That was him. But different managers come in and they didn’t have that power of personality. (Jose) Fonte ran the club at that time – that’s not in a negative way but a positive way – and I learned a lot from him. But by the time he left and the managers were changing we were **** and the only person who really got it was Mark Hughes.

He took me to one side one day and said: ‘What’s the matter with this lot?’ And I told him: ‘They’ve got no bollocks.’ ‘Scuse my French. And he wound me up to go into a team meeting and basically dig them all out. I had to pull Ryan (Bertrand), who was a mate of mine, to one side and say ‘Look, I’m going to go in there and give them all a right volley and I’m afraid I’m going to make you first or else they’ll think I’m just looking after my mates.’ Ryan went along with it. We got the results after that – not great results but enough to keep us up. The performances went up. But we got to the semi-final and of the FA Cup and lost to Chelsea but that Cup run did us a power of good too.

Interesting stuff. It’s always good to get some inside info on what the Club is like. I wonder what he thinks of Ralph?

Always liked Charlie Austin. I know some have different views - i remember being called a “nonce” on twitter for wishing Austin the best when he left - but looked out for him ever since he played for Poole Town and ran rings around the Winchester City defence a good few years ago.
