Chelsea v Saints match thread

First time I have ever started such a thread. So a game of association football will take place shortly beteeen the expensively assembled team from Chelsea, London, managed by that loveable rogue from Portugal, and our dear Saints.

What are your thoughts on the potential selections and outcome of this match?

I think we will play 3-3-4 with everyone scoring at least once.

Well, if there was ever a time to beat them at their own place, now is it. We’ve done alright getting some draws over the past couple of seasons, and they’re looking fairly unsettled at the back. Terry is having difficulty getting in the side, Ivanovic is nowhere near as solid this year, and there are reports of a scapegoating culture going on at Stamford Bridge.

Now or never, I reckon.

Believe it was 2-4 the last time we beat them at their place - with a certain Mr James Beattie scoring a rather splendid long range free kick, back in the 2002/2003 season.

Suspect they might get the usual ‘luck’ and we come away with nothing… but as Mr Pap suggests, now is not a bad time to play them.

Much better than that game when I was in hospitality and Beattie scored in the first minute, then scored an own goal and we went on to lose 2-1. Beattie left for Everton shortly afterwards and the rest is history.

Anyway, we need to play at our best, which we did last season against them (twice) but have yet to reproduce this season.

I think we’ll get a hiding. Hazard got a rest mid week but I’m sure won’t be left out for the league. Can see it being 3/4 but hope for a 1-1!

Sorry to be a defeatist!

You can say that again.

Mourinho:-

I’m going for a repeat of the '68 game when I was standing on the terrace with a thin line of police separating us from a baying pack of rabid Chelsea supporters… 2 - 6

I think I’d be able to live with that.

Bertrand:-

Just WTF is going on with Ryan’s hair? He’s gone all ‘Neymar Ponce’ on us…

I believe that any criticism of hair should be qualified with one’s own credentials. You could be casting these stones rocking a mullet, beehive or combover. The world should know.

As a man of a certain age, I sport a distinguished short style best suited to when it recedes - ensuring I remain both handsome, sophisticated and appealing to the ladies. Your provocative suggestion that I may be carrying a mullet or combover is beneath you sir. I have it on good authority form those who have met you that this is a portrait of Pap taken only 4 days ago:

That tie is ridiculous.

Romeu and Davis play, JWP benched. Good line up IMO.

Sorry sir, but a bald man has as much authority to talk about appropriate placement of hair as a woman does talking penis management.

And that picture is 6 days old.

Someone will be happy that JWP is not playing… Not me!
