Childhood TV Heroes

I think there was an audio version which used Dennis Law and the lyrics changed

The Banana Splits was a favourite of mine - strange thing is I remember it in colour, but my folks only had a black and white TV when I was a small nipper.

Fake memories?

To be fairJimmy So vile does have his defenders. Just this week Susan Boyle disclosed that when she was a young teenager she appeared on Jimlfixit and Jimmy never laid a finger on her.

All you old fogeys with your cowboys and indians, here’s a real hero…

Not really Heroes but I used to watch the High Chapperal and Bonanza religiously.

Roger Moore and Tony Curtis in the Pursuaders

The Champions - who all ended up with a superpower after their plan crashed in the Himalayas and they were rescued by a hidden race of people.

And of course, Doctor Who (Jon Pertwee)

Gentle Ben and flipper.

Great shout Smiler!

Two shows I absolutely loved.

And two great theme times too.

Used to watch repeats of Callan when I was about 10 or so. I always was a cheery fucker.

I loved The Lone Ranger…something mystical about Tonto…great name of the actor who played him…Jay Silverheels, his real name wasn’t so romantic…Harold Preston Smith but was still a real Native American. :lou_lol:

Sadly I am old enough to remember the original Dr Who, William Hartnell. It was proper scary in those days! Went downhill when the Doctor teamed up with Unit. Who remembers Do Not Adjust Your Set? For runner of Monty Python in many ways. Loved the Blit Men.

Top of The Pops especially in the '70’s and '80’s - so many of the DJ presenters were wholesome role models for all of us. How many people wanted to be just like Jimmy Saville?
