The problem with this incident is that in the Big Bash they have pushed to have more engagement with the players, have jokes with them on tv and generally try and have a laugh.
Chris just took the joke aspect too far (in between sexes and hence the reaction).
I actually support the ladies plight but her battle is within the Aussie media as their jokey old boys network is part and parcel of broadcasting so if any good comes from this then hopefully we see more ladies in the commentary box instead of (tubby/slats/heals/warney/JB) reminiscing about the good old days etc etc etc) as they hardly commentate on the cricket objectively anymore.
