Now I remember this trip very clearly. It was a Sunday, it was live on Sky at 4pm, we had a poor record at goodison (still do). We were struggling. A mate of mine drove from Reading to Guildford, so we could drive up and back the same day.
What a goal and result though!!
these sort of trips would never happen now.
Btw, Matt lived opposite me at the time…not on speaking terms or anything like that. I got home from work that afternoon and started walikng around the path to the local shop and matty was walking back down the path towards me kicking a stone, and I kept thinking ‘shall I say good luck tonight Matt’, or something like that, but thought it would sound creepy so said nothing!..anyway, he’s gone a long way since his mid bed semi and red Ford Fiesta!.
