Following on from Paps excellent “cover us in glory” thread I thought I’d gauge your opinion on the worst covers.
This is the worst cover I can think of , whoever thought this was a good idea should have been shot.

I mentioned my dislike of Blondie’s cover of The Tide Is High on Pap’s thread. One cover I hate even more than that is Jimmy Somerville’s horrible, crass rendition of Don’t Leave Me This Way. He takes a heart-wrenching soul classic, raises the tempo, gives it a bouncy speudo-disco beat, with the result being a distinctly happy-sounding song. I’m not going to post a link to it because I hate it too much to even look it up.
Oh, and anything by Paul Young. I also hate his shitty covers too much to link to them.

Under the Bridge by All Saints. Takes everything good about the original and fucks it in the eye.

This also takes some beating , It’s so shit why would they even do this , take an absolute classic and take the piss.
