He inherited Pochettino’s team when he came to us. I think most people will accept that we unearthed a gem when we brought Poch in, and i willingly admit that when we sacked Nige i was one of the first ones to put my hands up and say “what the fuck, they don’t know what they are doing”. Koeman has been found out, his record prior to coming to the Saints was mixed to say the least. Did OK in Holland, but i believe Gary Neville’s record was better at Valencia. Not something you really want on your CV… I think it is generally accepted that the Everton gig was a stepping stone to getting the Barcelona job. Oh dear!

I think even the most virulent anti would sympathise with the limited transfer funds Everton gave him this summer.
It was obvious £140m wasn’t going to be enough to see them stay in the Premier League.
