I’ve just seen that Garry Shandling has died. I remember watching “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” and The Larry Sanders show as a youngster and it had a very profound impact on me. I don’t think I’d seen comedy like it before or enjoyed comedy as much before.
Yesterday, I posted about the passing of Phife Dawg from a Tribe Called Quest, although no one responded to that, presumably because he was black and you’re all racist.
Cruyff has had two threads on here today following his death.
Shandling (66), Dawg (45) and Cruyff (68). No ages to be dying. I feel old.
Larry Sanders was a work of genius, an astonishingly brilliant show. As Ted says above, a lot of great ccomedy shows took their inspriation from it.
I’m very sorry that I didn’t comment on the sad demise of Phife Dawg. Now I’m not a racist, but he was black - so obviously his death doesn’t really count in quite the same way. That’s not racist, it’s Just How Things Are.
