Disappointing result but we looked so much better tonight. We played really well until the usual shed load of substitutions. Still, JWP got his first cap and Redmond looked comfortable

I’m looking forward to the traditional rant from Chris Waddle on 5Live.

I like Southgate, he wears a waistcoat and seems a decent man.

How long will it be before The Sun call him the Wally in the waistcoat?

Don’t think the Germans got out of first gear(only watched the las 30 minutes).

Nathan Redmond is the future of English football(laugh and eat your words in two years) . Why wasn’t he playing from the start with Bertrand? Anyone told Southgate that they know each others game rather well?

Is my TV broken or are England playing in some shit shade of blue rather than red for their away kit? When did this happen and why?

So, how did our new exciting team get on in a friendly against German reserves… oh great!

I have know Idea why we have used this kit or who decided it would be a good idea to do so. But it is crap. bring back the 66 red kit as it is the only one we know how to win in.

We had a really good first half, lots of high pressing and crisp passing. Had the same problem as Saints though, not scoring when on top. The Germans played better in the second half and the more substituations that we made, the more it favoured the Krauts and they finished the game strongly. Podolski’s goal was a world class screamer. What a way to finish your international career. As for England, this was the first time for ages I havent gone through a match not muttering FFS under my breath every few minutes.

Can someone tell me why it matters what colour our kit is?

Can someone tell me why that game mattered?

(other than to Prowsie and Redmond)

4 current Saints players in the squad. Three of them played last night. Another 5 ex Saints in the squad. :lou_sunglasses:

I liked that England side last night. I’d like to watch it again.

Only people that have suffered watching England these last few years will realise the magnitude of those statements.

I didn’t watch the game as I was playing pool in my local pool league (I may have mentioned this before).

I did happen to see the Delle Ali “shot” straight at their keeper though, and the Podolski thunderbolt!!

Lee Dixon on punditry afterward said the result was harsh on England, I guess with the amount of Saints and ex-Saints in the squad then that is something they will be used to.

I got bored and turned off. It was like when a new fifa or pro evo comes out and you get everyone round but cause how you score has changed, there is loads of nice midfield play but few chances and some terrible finishing. This is how Redman plays in general so maybe it is what England are looking for.

You missed Lallana hitting the post then? Sadly he went for glory instead of squaring it for an easier chance. Still, it was good to sit through an England game and actually enjoy it. The footy writer for The Independent didnt like it though and thinks England will never be any good until “they get their heads out of the sand.” Fair point I suppose, not easy to play with your head in the sand.
