England vs West Indies - 2nd Test

England win the toss and choose to bat.

Nice to see Chris Woakes back in the side at last. He’s got the makings of a proper all-rounder and goes a long way to holding the order together.

Time though for at least one of Stoneman, Westley and Malan to make a proper confidence boosting innings. It won’t tell us an enormous amount against this attack, if the first test is anything to go by, but someone needs to make a claim for a place on the Ashes tour.

Why do they do this? What can you tell from a flat picture of a pitch?

Looks flat and brown. Should hold up pretty well for first three days and play pretty true. with little cloud cover and no green patches for the seamers to hit I would expect a good, slowish batting track. Some of those cracks could open up on day 4/5 and bring the spinners into the game for the second innings.

HTH.

Have you had your key in the cracks?

Well then, Cook’s gone.

Time for Westley and Stoneman to do something special.

Cook out for 11, a nothing shot edged to slips…

I forgot ths was on, gives me something to do whilst whiling away the lonely evenings offshore :lou_sad:

Westley out LBW

26-2

Well that’s not ideal :lou_facepalm_2:

3 down, Stoneman thin inside edge to keeper, out for 19 (47)

37-3

So much for the new batsmen staking a claim.

If the newbies can’t do it against the Windies, I’m not sticking my head out from under the Duvet while we have to bat against the Aussies. Right bloody mess now.

Root must bat 3 Hayles has to come in at 5 and perhaps Buttler as the extra batsman but fvck knows who they can get to open with Cook

50 FOR ROOT & A WORLD RECORD!
Root sweeps Bishoo in front of square for a boundary and in the process, joins AB de Villiers as a world record holder for completing 12 consecutive fifties in Tests. Some effort, and company he’s keeping, eh? It’s his 31st in Tests. Go on, Joe - double it.
