If Man U win their game against B’mouth and we drop to 6th, Palace win the FA Cup and get a Europa slot and 'pool win the Europa, snaffling a CL spot - do we still get to go to Europe?

Nope, if we finish 5th (N5) we go straight into the group stages, the Cup Winners (CW) also go straight into the group stages.
If we finish 6th (N6) we go into Qualifying Round 3 (Q3), which is the final knockout round before the group stages.
If United finish 5th and win the FA Cup then we will get their pass into the group stages.

Yes, there is a provision for 5 CL places for the PL. Man City won the league cup and have finished in the CL places so their Europa League place goes to the league, i.e. the 6th placed team

Nice description, but on that last point, are you saying that the CL place is essentially an extra place for the country of whichever team wins the Europa League? I thought that was the case.
We are in, but if Man U win tomorrow night, then there is no doubt I will want Man U to win the FA Cup as I want Saints in the group stages this time.
If not we will go in at 3rd qualifier 2 legs and then a playoff 2 leg before the groups.
This correct sir. If Liverpool finished in the 5th or 6th and win on Wednesday, there would not have been an extra Europa league place from league, just the CL place for Liverpool.
Yes, that is what I should have been saying. Normally we have 4 places but, if Liverpool win, we will get 5.
Same for Spain if Sevilla win, they have 4 CL places normally, if Sevilla win they will get 5.
If it had been an Italian team they would have had 4 places instead of the 3 they get now.
I’m still not convinced that we would have lost a Europa League place had 'pool finished in the Europa League “spots” and win the Europa League but that’s all moot now.
It goes without saying that if we get a guaranteed run of games in the Europa League, there will need to be an international Sotonians away day. My bros at home are already talking about going, tickets permitting. We’d be a calming influence. When foreign fans come looking for a ruck armed with restaurant chairs, we’ll verbally disarm them with some clever wordplay.
Failing that, we could try just getting fucking hammered.
