Everton vs Southampton match thread

Jay-Rod on for Wanyama.

We’ve been shit…they’ve been shittier…and they lead 1 - 0 FFS.

Edit not so shit…Mane scores.

C’mon Ron – inspire them with some philosophy from the side lines…

Yes!!! Mane!!!

1-1 Excellent philosophical input there from Ron in the build up! :lou_sunglasses:

Long! Oh, so close…

good pressure but Everton clear.

Four minutes time added on, into it now.

Full Time. 1-1.

Shite, but could have been more shite.

Oh well…one point at Everton is historically a good point…but we wasted a lot of chances to grab all 3. Hmmmm.

A point away at Everton has never been so disappointing.

Good to see JayRod back. Looks like he’s beefed up a bit.

Everton were shit.

Pompey have just blown a 1-0 lead at home to Plymouth!

Plymouth score twice in the 86th minute!

If the skates had won, with Accrington drawing, they’d have been three points off the Automatic places, with a game in hand (against Accrington).

Fucking brilliant! Cheers me up no end!

Edit: Paul Cook refuses a handshake. Lol. Wanker.

Is that, that shower down the M27…I thought they went out of business years ago…very odd. :lou_surprised:

I think I saw our last win at Everton in 1997. Was it not 4pm on a Sunday in front of the sky cameras? Kevin Davies scoring a great goal in a 0-2 win? We were shite then as well.

We don’t have an “Other Games” thread this week, so might as well put it in here.

Aston Villa were relegated today with defeat at Manchester United, and caretaker-Manager Eric Black is confident that ‘his’ side can bounce straight back, according to the BBC.

Black said:

“We have players capable of playing in the Championship,”

Obviously.

Was happy with a point at the end of the game, but Everton really were bollocks yesterday. A lot of very good football from Saints in terms of maintaining control, defending and trying to set the tempo of the game. Little bite up front, unfortunately.

… think if we could get Walcott or Ox to add more pace… might be worth it?

Perhaps. We had pace yesterday, but it was disjointed. Runners making inroads into space with no-one to pass to. Really though, we need to be more clinical in front of goal, because there were times when we could have scored but did not.

I don’t know if we’ll be in the market for any strikers next window, given that we’re already trying to rotate four. Feel like we need more options.

Something else I thought worth mentioning. That was the quietest home crowd I’ve witnessed in the Premier League. Ever.

They were in awe at our mesmerising football … or more likely all fast asleep!!

I’ve seen Goodison quiet before, and my Blue supporting mates always passed it off as “no disrespect, but we don’t get that excited for teams like Southampton”. Admittedly, that was a few years ago, before we had established ourselves as a top half Premier League side.

It really was dire yesterday. A bit of noise for the goal. A bit of a commotion with the equaliser, what with matey running onto the pitch. Not entirely the toxic atmosphere that my Evertonian pals predicted. No atmosphere at all save what the Saints fans produced.

I know they’re not happy at the moment but if that’s a normal day at the office in Goodison, I’m not surprised their home form is so shit.
