Everton vs Southampton match thread

We will lose.

We always lose at Everton.

We always lose when Smithy, myself & Eric are in the Pub. We have to go to the pub because one of our founding members Sarah is coming back for the game.

Ho hum

Saw this on Twitter. What was technically achievable (as of April 11th) for each PL team.

Quite cool.

Won’t lose…trust me. A draw or an away win…2 - 2 or 1 - 2.

Everton could have a few out for this. Just been reading the UI. McCarthy is suspended after receiving a red card. Baines and Barkley are doubtful.

So if you bet on Leicester back in August you could cash out now and put it all on Everton to finish 3rd…

I went to Goodison a few times back in the day, once saw us ship a shedload of goals, was that in 86?

Keith Granger in goal, Lineker in his pomp, us not.

0-4

Mane brace as he ramps up his deisre to move, Pelle and VanDickvanDyke

Get your money on this now!

I have us down for a win so we will lose, 'nuff said

I like the second comment - “We aren’t Spanish tits” - That’s a no then.

A win is not impossible. It’s just improbable, like this.

Yep. 86. Followed 2 days later by losing 5-3 at Spurs. Granger’s only 2 appearances.

Today in 1984, it was THAT semi-final.

Everton mate of mine reckons that they are shit at the moment. Martinez has lost the players’ confidence. Reckons that there could well be a toxic atmosphere on Saturday*.

*Above the usual shite coming off the Dock Road

Umm, didn’t they win the FA cup in the 90s or something…

Don’t normally do predictions, but given that my Twitter feed has had some Evertonians with some doom-laden predictions about their team, I’m going for a Saints victory with a big winning margin, say 3.

Don’t mention Highbury…now that was a depressing day.

I still remember being in the main stand as it emptied around me at the end, wondering what the fuck had just happened.

That was our year…

Didn’t want to start the thread myself, as the previous starter was on a hot-streak. :lou_wink_2:

I feel good about this one.

“Feelings” say Everton 0 - 3 Saints.

My more realistic tendencies are inclined to reduce that to something more like 1 - 2 though.*

Either way, Saints travelling back with another three points in the bag.

*But don’t listen to me, I am a cunt. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Aye, travelled over from Leeds with an Everton supporting mate when I lived up there. It really is a shite hole.

Was hungover as fuck, and it was a dire, drab 0-0 with Spuds. Not a great memory that one.

Only time I’ve ever been to 'Pool n all. Which, doesn’t really count.

As for the game, we should win this. Martinez seems to be proving his doubters right. Fear he may struggle to hold onto his job, unless he wins the cup. That squad is easily good enough to be challenging for top 4/6. The fact they aren’t is a pretty damning indictment of his abilities. It’d be a shame if he goes, he seems like a decent, likeable chap but he has massively under performed for 2 years now. Not many get that long.

unlike most, I don’t have a good feeling about this one. My bones are predicting a defeat and a dull affair. 1-0

One nice thing about that chart.

“The Saints are staying up”. Mathematically guaranteed with five games to play and a European spot of some description in our sights.

If you’d have told a mid-90s Saints fan that would be the case in 2016, you’d have been accused of being some perverse purveyor of Southampton FC pie-in-the-sky fetish pornography, of interest to a very niche market. If you’d have suggested that on selected forums any time before 2013, you’d have been announcing “I am a dreamer, therefore a target”, and have people tell you that it “would never happen” for hundreds of posts afterwards.

I wonder how they’re feeling about Leicester this year? :lou_sunglasses:

How times have changed.
