I spoke to loads of lads last weekend and they are adamant they are not renewing next season, they may go now and again but they’re not giving the club their money to go into wages and dividends and I totally agree, the premiership has done what exactly for Southampton FC, the people of the City and its fans and the trophy cabinet?

As to the thread I’ve got to agree with @cobham-saint as seem to be several threads about relegation (or it feels that way!).
Why no protests? Because maybe, just maybe, people have a lot of stuff to do that’s possibly way more important than protesting about some crap football. But for those of you with the time and Bazza seems to have plenty - crack on but maybe not on here. Be more vocal in real life. Make a placard and stand outside st marys and really show em.
It is incredibly hard to speculate any version of reality where Bazza’s interpretioon of events could be wrong.

I actually think this is an interesting question Baz, well done (although you revert to type a bit later in the thread with the Kat-and-club-bashing).
I think the reason for lack of protests and uproar is probably because fans are more clued in nowadays - on this occasion I think many (most?) of the fans realise that there simply isn’t a failsafe option out there right now - there are no proven firefighters who could replace MoPe, and any other option would be just as high risk (if not even higher) as keeping MoPe in place (particularly when you ask the question as to who with pedigree would actually come in at this stage - it’s the same problem WBA have).
Maybe the fans and the club should have acted quicker, but they didn’t so there’s no point moaning now - hindsight’s no good to us. (And before you say it, yes we all know how you’ve been an oracle on this for so long and everyone should have listened to you, but I’m sure you’ll agree that if the club and general fanbase started listening to one online troll then we’d be in BIG trouble.)
I think historically fans didn’t have a clue what was going on, and didn’t understand the ‘business’ as much as we’re able to today - hence why you used to get baying mobs but rarely do now.
Also, I think some fans are probably a bit ‘be careful what you wish for’ following the sacking of Puel and employing of MoPe - they realise that a change isn’t always a positive thing.
Finally for now, people keep banging on about how poor and/or uninterested Gao is, but that should be irrelevant. When he bought the club it was crystal clear that it was ‘business as usual’, that he wouldn’t be putting his own money into the club, and that the club would need to remain self-sufficient - none of this is any different to how we’ve been running the club for the past few seasons.
Alarm bells rang for me when the Lander Group took over, name me one Chinese owner who is a positive in Premiership football? They also are crooks and also afterwards never stated to why they took the the club on, we’re fucked and speculation is all we have, one thing is not in doubt, we’re shite, we’re boring to watch and that lies with the manager and Les Reed, this isn’t about vision this is about money.
I thought this particular thread was about the lack of fan protests? There are plenty of other threads for your club-bashing so I won’t bother replying to this.
I assume he bought the club to make money via the club’s efficient, self-sustaining business model that was already in place and had been successfully working under the guidance of the existing board structure, rather than to pump his own money into a failing business in the hope it would turn around.
If it was self sustaining why sell it? You think our model is one that is robust? They were either wrong then or now. I am saying they were wrong then and still are now, you?
I’m saying that this thread is about the lack of fan protests and I’ve tried to give you a theory as to why that may be - are you not happy with that? Why? Would you prefer to draw me into a debate about business models rather than stick to the thread title? Why? What do you hope to achieve? Are you happy? Do you like cheese? I am amazed to why there hasn’t been large scale uproar at Bob’s poor performance and sterile attempts at humour employed by the Bob? Years ago I think sotonians by now would well and truly be showing their anger and frustrations by chants and protests at our Bob’s sleep walk into the humourless void, have we become soft and apathetic? Is this the Sotonian way? Would other forums in a similar situation accept this? If we go down next season how many will we average? 17,000 bad jokes a month?
