Football Manager 2018

The game comes with watered down simplier version which is a lot quicker to play through a season and is less complicated.

Plus in the full game you can allocate a lot of the tasks to other members of staff in the responsibiliities screen. Training/contracts/friendlies etc etc you don’t have to do if you don’t want to.

I mocked your kind in the playground, colour clash boy.

Miles’ boss at SEGA, Sonic the Hedgehog has now collected enough gold rings to fund a bigscreen, a presenter and some licensed music…

Will there be improvements such as -

  1. inflation

  2. real stadiums

  3. not all regens have afros or mohawks

  4. things like player asks to leave, then you make friends and he signs a new contract, then he moans that he didn’t get transferred out as promised

  5. the crowd don’t look like the crowd from pitfighter 90’s fight game only all in football shirts like Newcastle fans.

If so, I am in!

  1. It isn’t going to have inflation. It isn’t Ultimate Soccer Manager 2 where in 2069 hotdogs cost £300

  2. “Real stadiums”… what exactly do you mean? FM doesn’t have the licenses to make stadiums look as they do in real life. Plus unlike FIFA, over the seasons you play the game the stadiums can get bigger in FM which makes using real stadiums hard to implement as they have to be made bigger

  3. Not all of them do

  4. van Dijk behaviour you mean? Players can get upset and request transfers yes

  5. The fans look better each year, but the game is unlikely to ever be at the same level of graphics as FIFA

I will take that as a no then. I will probably still buy it anyway and moan at you again this time next year for it not being perfect. You can pretend not to understand the questions again then if you like. It surely is not too hard to introduce random levels of inflation, is it? Make a league suddenly get a massive TV deal etc. Plus having a real or even realish stadium isn’t hard to understand is it? Not having the licence is not my fault, just say that is an area we are a bit shit at.

Nah not VVD behaviour. Its a bug obs. VVD doesn’t get arsy, ask to leave, then say things are ok, then sign a contract, then moan he did not get the move he was promised… oh fair enough.

Also would be good if chairman insists you buy certain players again. Some people would hate this but could be a function you can turn off. I like the game to be as real as possible. I want Cortese calling me and asking why Guly didn’t play Vs Bristol Rovers just so I can tell him to fuck off and go full Pardew. I am a real football man!

Dynamic reputations for leagues was introduced a few years ago. So a league can improve it’s reputation if the teams do well in European competition. But it is pretty unlikely the Scottish league or Belgian league will ever have a huge TV deal to rival the Premier League. I can’t see what turn in events would ever get that to happen.

Even if FM had the licenses to make accurate stadiums like in FIFA, it would be very difficult to implement it so the stadium can increase in size. FIFA doesn’t need to do that as the stadiums stay the same, it is easier for FM to have modular generic stadiums. They are however improved for FM18.

OK, I will play Turkish for a bit…

  1. who mentioned Belgium or Scotland? Is it pretty unlikely the Spanish, Italian or even American leagues get a huge TV deal or influx of money? It happened to China ffs. It could be a feature you can turn off or on depending on if you want things to remain the same forever or if you like a bit of mental random stuff every 5 years or so.

  2. Would it be difficult for the graphics guys at Sega to make a version of say St. Mary’s as is now, another with one stand developed and then another at super Jonus Bros capacity? They manage to make a version where they knock down one stand of the fictional stadium while it is being rebuilt.

  3. Why no mention of afros and mohawks? Fave the truth MLG, this is an issue and you know it. Someone in the regen hair design graphics department is out of control and you need to stop him.

The public beta is now live!

As I had to fly to Ireland on Tuesday for a presentation and some meetings (getting up at 5am), I’ve taken half a day in lieu and am playing the Beta.

We still can’t score despite my buying Ante Coric, Leander Dendoncker and Kasper Dolberg - but I’m on the balcony, it’s sunny and I’ve got a beer so I’m not that fussed…

A realistic simulation then! :lou_wink:

How do you get the beta? Obs buy the game but any other rules? If I buy it on Steam tonight, will I be able to play it?

Yes, you get the beta with Steam if you pre-order.

Just started with FM18 this week. I’ve never missed a version since about 1995 (I was even an Easter Egg Saints coach in one version, around 1998 I think) so don’t expect this to be bad review.

Thoroughly enjoying it so far. Won League 2 with Coventry at the first attempt, only losing 3 league games all season, but I deliveratly started with them knowing they had a decent squad for that level. I thought League One would be a significantly tougher challenge, but I am top of the league at the end of November without a league defeat yet. I’m almost totally reliant on loan players.

If anyone wants any tips on who to loan in the lower divisions:-

Duckens Nazon - Wolves - Striker

Charlie Wyke - Bradford - Striker

Kyle McAllister - Derby - Winger

All ridiculously productive, especially in the same team.
