I flirted with supporting Everton, as my cousin was an Everton season ticket holder (in Winchester) and battling it out with my dad! My cousin was younger and cool. I put it down to being young. I was about 10 and already been to a few Saints games. In the end I thought, why Everton they are miles away and my home town team are just up the road. Was strange as everyone at school was Liverpool.

Same as, but my excuse is growing up there aged 2 - 7 and George Best played for them at the time…can’t stand them now though.

I have no such luxury, that said they were absolute shit in the 80’s.

Getting caught up behind the skates’ FA Cup parade in 2008 (my girlfriend at the time went to uni there). I also somehow managed to tally my journey over there with their lot getting back from London.

Fucking shit weekend, all told.

I started as an impressionable nipper that basically supported David Beckham (still love him to be honest), so kind of supported Utd.

That said, it led me to the Dell and eventually Saints so not all bad I guess.

Hamburg SV - late 70s and early 80s - as army brat and needed a German team… so imagine my joy when we signed Keegan from Hamburg - was about 11 at the time :lou_smiley:

Taking the high moral ground, je ne regrette rien…I have nothing at all to admit or regret. I was born a Saint.

and I can’t recall ever going to a FL game that didn’t involve Saints. I’m pretty proud of that. :lou_lol:

Between the age of 14-18 I used to go to Fratton Park every other week, to support the team they were playing. Only used to go to Saints away games in London, so while Saints were away I used to think it would be fun to shout my hate at the blue few!

Well in February 1993 it stood at 2-0 to the skates. With 5 minutes left 2-1 to the skates, but a Mr Andrew Cole stepped up to level it in the last few minutes. I thought this was fun, but in injury time Cole popped the ball in the skates net again to make it 2-3. There were Bristol City fans on the floor of the terrace, they went nuts… Of course the skates were not happy.

What made it even sweeter, if things could get any sweeter, at the end of the season, they missed out on automatic promotion to the top flight by 1 goal. They then lost in the playoffs to Leicester over 2 legs!

Still needed a good wash when I got in every time!
