Probably not a victory either
we ran out of time. I couldnāt remember the rules and he told me the ones he remembered. Hey I wasnāt there to beat a 10 year old but to build a positive relationship
Minecraftā¦ I am 8 years old!
Currently taking a look at Renowned Explorers, which is a cute exploration game that reminds me a lot of FTL. You take a team of three adventurers around the world, seeking treasure and glory. The art style is gorgeous, and I canāt imagine itās going to challenge many PCs in terms of specs. Just like FTL, each place you visit can feature an encounter, although this is more of a turn-based strategy rock-paper-scissors affair than FTLās psuedo-real-time crew management.
About 13 quid on Steam at the moment. Itās very nice.
So, I took the plunge and got myself a 3DS (donāt tell the gf). V much looking forward to plunging into A Link Between Worlds and Pokemon which I got to go with it.
shut up, Iām totally a grown up!
Ha, the next few days promise to be interesting as KRG attempts to hide his purchase.
Possible future scenario:-
KRG has sloped off to the bog for a surreptitious go on Pokemon. He has been there for five hours. Privately, he wonders whether he will need the fire service to get him off the can, but heās caught a load of grass type pokemon and evolved a couple of his flock. Rough with the smooth, etc.
Ms KRG bangs on the door, demanding to know what heās up to. Unable to answer with the truth, he goes for the next best option, and meekly utters āmasturbatingā as his reply.
Waiting for Star Wars and Fallout, Mad Max is a possibilty though as heard good stuff.
Iāve been delving further into MGS V. Could have discussed this on its own thread, but figured Iād keep the gaming updates here for now. Iāve been stuck on the third mission for a bit now, and finally completed it this evening. In the last mission, I found I was getting penalised for killing people, or at least not gettng a no kill bonus.
Managed to complete this mission without killing anyone. The game has itās usual mechanic of just being about to tranq dart or use close quarters combat, but a new dynamic is the ability to attach a balloon to fallen foes, whisking them back to your base. Another new mechanic is time slowing down when discovered by an enemy; this makes the game tons more forgiving as long as you can tranq dart someone in the noodle.
Eventually plotted a course through the camp, using non-lethal means for every opponent,. although I did blow some shit up to prevent any reinforcements from being radioed in. Very emergent, and coupled with systems that really help. The game wants you to do well, emphasises stealth and most of all, makes it a lot of fun.
Playing Witcher 3 at the mo. Red dead meets sky rim. Juryās out so far but it is proving to be a time thief.
Sim Cityā¦ Love this game!
In more āwhat Ant did on holidayā news, I picked up a cheap Vita game on a punt just before I left - the rather ridiculously-named Lego Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin.
And itās fantastic.
Iāve played quite a few of the Lego games before (the first couple of Star Wars/Batman ones being stand-outs) but this is probably the best of the bunch. Humour, variety and polish in abundance. Why it was only released for handheld consoles Iāll never know.
Yes, I know Iām a child. Funās fun!
Really enjoying Lara Croft Go, at the minute.
Lot of time for these āGoā re-imagining of franchises. They bring an interesting take on existing titles, and give them a unique puzzle twist to the originals. The Hitman version got a fair bit of love, but I far prefer the Lara Croft game. Works really well on mobile I think.
Good time killer.
I really like the Lego games, they always seem to be great fun. Really like the look of the latest, Lego Dimensions. Though, some of the add-ons do make it look pretty expensive!
This is on my list to play, but other stuff has to be finished first. I have too many unfinished open world adventures as it is.
How are you getting on with this? I am intrigued, but Iāve already got loads of big games.
If anyone is commuting today (and has an iPhone), Iād recommend throwing a few quid at Downwell. Cracking little game that.

i used to play these games all the time when younger.
Dice football, I used to get all the league ladders from shoot mag and do the draw out my saints hat, then you just need a dice for half time and full time score.
Anyone that has an iPhone/iPad, Monument Valley is currently free. You can get it on Android too, but it costs a couple of quid.
Cannot recommend this game enough, even the paid version.
Ooh, good bump, KRG.
I got some stuff in the Steam Sale that Iāve been taking a look at. Assassinās Creed: Black Flag, finally running at 60fps, is a thing of beauty and was a real bargain for 6 quid. If youāre in any way OCD about games, youāll love it. I just hung around in Havana doing side missions for ages. There isnāt really a bit of this game I donāt like. Traversal & movement is a lot of fun. Ship combat rocks too.
Iām on the move at the moment so I am trying to get through Xenoblade Chronicles 3D on the āNewā 3DS (FFS, Nintendo!). It is a great game, but has lost the Japanese voiceover in translation to its new form. The Brit voice acting aināt great, and the same end of battle announcements, badly acted, are now really getting on my tits. Canāt really play it with the sound off either - the music is very decent and there are a lot of audio cues that complement the real time battle system.
Feel my pain, bros.
I missed the sales, but then again I still havenāt even downloaded the majority of the games I got in the last sale and Iām still to play Fallout 4 yet. So probably not the worst idea ever.
Got a few games on Steam Iāve got my eye on though.
Look, itās research, all right? I donāt have a problem.
