we ran out of time. I couldnāt remember the rules and he told me the ones he remembered. Hey I wasnāt there to beat a 10 year old but to build a positive relationship
Currently taking a look at Renowned Explorers, which is a cute exploration game that reminds me a lot of FTL. You take a team of three adventurers around the world, seeking treasure and glory. The art style is gorgeous, and I canāt imagine itās going to challenge many PCs in terms of specs. Just like FTL, each place you visit can feature an encounter, although this is more of a turn-based strategy rock-paper-scissors affair than FTLās psuedo-real-time crew management.
About 13 quid on Steam at the moment. Itās very nice.
So, I took the plunge and got myself a 3DS (donāt tell the gf). V much looking forward to plunging into A Link Between Worlds and Pokemon which I got to go with it.
Ha, the next few days promise to be interesting as KRG attempts to hide his purchase.
Possible future scenario:-
KRG has sloped off to the bog for a surreptitious go on Pokemon. He has been there for five hours. Privately, he wonders whether he will need the fire service to get him off the can, but heās caught a load of grass type pokemon and evolved a couple of his flock. Rough with the smooth, etc.
Ms KRG bangs on the door, demanding to know what heās up to. Unable to answer with the truth, he goes for the next best option, and meekly utters āmasturbatingā as his reply.
Iāve been delving further into MGS V. Could have discussed this on its own thread, but figured Iād keep the gaming updates here for now. Iāve been stuck on the third mission for a bit now, and finally completed it this evening. In the last mission, I found I was getting penalised for killing people, or at least not gettng a no kill bonus.
Managed to complete this mission without killing anyone. The game has itās usual mechanic of just being about to tranq dart or use close quarters combat, but a new dynamic is the ability to attach a balloon to fallen foes, whisking them back to your base. Another new mechanic is time slowing down when discovered by an enemy; this makes the game tons more forgiving as long as you can tranq dart someone in the noodle.
Eventually plotted a course through the camp, using non-lethal means for every opponent,. although I did blow some shit up to prevent any reinforcements from being radioed in. Very emergent, and coupled with systems that really help. The game wants you to do well, emphasises stealth and most of all, makes it a lot of fun.
In more āwhat Ant did on holidayā news, I picked up a cheap Vita game on a punt just before I left - the rather ridiculously-named Lego Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin.
And itās fantastic.
Iāve played quite a few of the Lego games before (the first couple of Star Wars/Batman ones being stand-outs) but this is probably the best of the bunch. Humour, variety and polish in abundance. Why it was only released for handheld consoles Iāll never know.
Lot of time for these āGoā re-imagining of franchises. They bring an interesting take on existing titles, and give them a unique puzzle twist to the originals. The Hitman version got a fair bit of love, but I far prefer the Lara Croft game. Works really well on mobile I think.
I really like the Lego games, they always seem to be great fun. Really like the look of the latest, Lego Dimensions. Though, some of the add-ons do make it look pretty expensive!
