Just heading into town to get comfortably numb before Frank Turner this evening at the Guildhall.
Donât know why, but I havenât looked forward to a gig so much for a long time.
Nice, full report please Bletch!
Have fun.
Well, well. In early 2006 I handed a folded ticket (worth 5 or 6 pounds) to the doorman of the Nexus; a student-favoured dive of a rock club sadly lost to the march of âprogressâ.
I stood with my nose pressed against the stage as a stocky, dreadlocked man towered over me. His band played a dirty, scuzzy brand of metal brimming with an infectious reggae vibe and rhythm.
That band was Skindred and on Wednesday - almost a decade on - I witnessed them slay an audience 10 times the size of the Nexus crowd with a set worthy of just about any arena in the land.
My, how theyâve grown.
Just got my tickets for Frank Turner in Manchester in March. Mighty fine chap he is!
Excellent.
FYI, ant, currently drinking Punk IPA. Loving g it.
He puts on such a good show, itâs a bit relentless as he just doesnât take a break. But love watching him.
Colleagues at work were shocked that I would see a band/singer 10 plus times.
Suede next week.
If you like a band there is not a limit to it.
Of course, Dub War were better.
Every Time I Die were pretty mental at The Talking Heads last night. Ended the gig with both footprints and blood upon my person, not to mention a very tender shoulder, a sizeable bump on the back of my head and a little mild concussion.
Epic.

Waiting for the Guns N Roses tour dates to come through any day now. I think I will have to get tickets for this one.
Saw them âback in the dayâ - they were fucking good.
Off to see Teeth of the Sea this week. Should be full on. New album is a monster.
Headed out to Roundhouse for some heighten security (sure itâs the first time Iâve been metal detectored going into a gig).
First half they played their new album with a film playing in the foreground. Quite haunting. Then a bit of a break and onto the hits. Over two hours too. Unfortunately a giant happened to stand in front of me.

Iâve had some trying moments in recent weeks. Deadlines. Scraping an alloy on a hire car. The death of a papmobile. In all cases, a happy little bubble floats up, pops, and says âyouâve got Glastonbury tickets, guvâ.
And all is good.
Closely followed by, and headling 2016 isâŚOlly Murs.
Troublemaker.
My street cred is so intact that I had to Google that joke to confirm my suspicions.
The Goat is obviously well into Murs.
Iâm extremely proud myself to announce I wouldnât recognise Olly Murs if he walked up to me, shook my hand and said, âHello Iâm Olly Mursâ
What is itâŚthat he actually does?
