🗣 Gigs

The Zombies in Chandlers Ford! Playing at The Thornden Hall on 11th November. The missus and I have just booked. :lou_lol:

They’re still in good voice…

Saw Matt Berry and the Maypoles last night at Koko. great musicians all round but wasn’t feeling it last night as coming down with a cold.

Tonight was A Peaceful Noise in memory of Nick Alexander who.was killed at the Bataclan attack just over a year ago. we missed Fran Healy and Maximo Park but enjoyed Gaz Coombes, Chas and Dave (special guest), Frank Turner and Jesse Hughes (special guest).

Frank and his partner were side of stage singing and dancing to Chas and Dave. Frank had also written a new song for his partner and sang it for the first time. awwww

All held in the beautiful Shepherds Bush Empire.

More to follow but saw Will Varley at the Wedgewood Rooms last night.

Great night.

There were 9 of us in our group including my daughter.

Regular readers may remember that Will Varley signed an expensive (and hopelessly effiminate) shirt of mine with a marker pen at The Joiners earlier in the year.

I tweeted him before the gig to plead that no matter how pissed I got or how much I begged, he wasn’t to sign my shirt again.

He didn’t.

But the cheeky begger did sign my daughter’s chest!!!

RULE #1 DOES NOT APPLY.

Off to see him again at the Union Chappel on Friday. We’re going to have words.

Probably words like “I love you. Will you sign my shirt?”

Bletch has seven friends?

Seems unlikely.

I went to see Romesh Ranganathan least night. He was ok but it was probably one of the poorer comedy his I’ve seen. A bit disappointing.

Due to my reproductive capability I don’t get out much these days so I am inordinately excited about seeing Goldie perform Timeless at Ronnie Scott’s in Feb.

Madness. Tonight. BIC. Fucking great.

My rock and roll week is over. I’ve spent 3 nights in 5 at the O2. I wonder if they think I am casing the joint.

Rhcp on Monday. The crowd were much more into it this time around (saw them there a few years ago and it was a bit flat).

Biffy Clyro on Thursday. It was pretty packed down in standing but we had a few seats spare around us which was nice. I enjoyed watching the mosh pit from afar. Excellent set and they just power through.

Richard Ashcroft last night. By this time I just needed some rest. Enjoyed it, a few Verve classics to sing along to. I needed a lay in and the bloody postman delivered a parcel at 7.30.

Next week off to see Frank Turner film Get Better with him doing a solo set and then Bowie’s Lazarus followed by Chic the week after getting us ready for Christmas.

One of my favourite bands (The Maccabees) have decided to call it a day after 14 years. But not before one last big payoff.

I have bagged myself a couple of tickets for one of the Manchester gigs in June 2017.

It is a shame as I really thought their music was developing to the next level, but they all have solo projects they want to explore.

Shelfish bastards.

It’s a week since I went to St Mary’s Church in Guildford (Sat 3rd Dec) to see a favourite band of mine, “Sweet Billy Pilgrim”. I’d never managed to catch them live before and wasn’t disappointed…all in good voice and the church acoustics surprisingly good. I suppose it helped standing next to the guy with the sound mixing tablet…even asked him to bump up the treble a bit to compensate for my age related top-end hearing loss. :lou_wink_2:

This is the view I got standing next to the guy shooting the official video (not online yet)…not my picture however.

Went to see Super Furry Animals last night. They performed Radiator and Fuzzy Logic back to back. It was brilliant. I then danced in a shitty pub for what seems like hours. Missed the last train home and stayed at a friends house, which only encouraged me to get more pissed.

insanely jealous.

Had tickets for wembley on Thursday, but it’s really not the place to be when you’re still on crutches.

:lou_sad:

Mate that’s awful :slight_frown: They tour often so …

Went to see Chic featuring Niles Rodgers last night and the beautiful Hammersmith Apollo for a charity Autismrocks.

I was beyond tired so probably not ideal. He’s written quite a few hits hasn’t he. I felt quite young in the audience as those in their late teens early twenties when they were at their height made up most of the audience. I witnessed a new phenomenon 60 year olds with tablets recording the whole bloody thing.
