Youāre in for a proper treat mate - this was the 5th time iāve seen them and in terms of their performance it was as good as iāve ever seen them. Everyone was really connecting with the crowd, they seemed to really enjoy playing a smaller venue and Win was gushing between every song about how much he was enjoying it.
They played 3 new songs last night including Everything Now (which was early in the set) - all very upbeat and dancy. Signs of Life is a funky little tune, even though nobody had really heard it before apart from on some low-quality YouTube videos the whole room was moving to it. Real mix of songs across the albums, at least 3 or 4 from each record which was quite cool. It did fall apart a little in the middle when they played some slower songs coming off the back of the best version of No Cars Go that iāve heard them play, but aside from that they were on fire.
No real gimmicks aside from the big one you can probably spot in the picture, just them and the music. Enjoy!
Then tomorrow Guns n Roses @The Olympic Stadium. Not really my bag, but my mates love them, and thereās about 20 of us going. I imagine they will be fun too. On the plus side, I can walk to the show and home from my flat. Will be a pleasant novelty.
Yeah, my mates got stranded at the o2 a few years ago when he decided to show up after the last train had gone (Greenwich to Ruislip without the Tube is not fun), and also when he came out so late at Reading that they only played for 10 mins before the plug got pulled. They werenāt overly impressed - that said theyāre going back for more.
Well they all came on, yes even Axl, at 7.45 and finished about 10.35ish. Not bad going, got my moneyās worth. Some vocals not amazing but Slash is one heck of a guitarist.
I forgot my earplugs but managed to beg some of a steward so glad as it was bloody loud.
Off to see the Maccabees in Manchester next Wednesday as part of their farewell gigs. It is going to be a shame to not have them around anymore after June/July!
Went to see the Maccabees last night at the Manchester O2. Every time I have seen this band they get better and better. They are tighter and have more depth, but unfortunately this is their last tour (farewell tour) before they split and go their separate ways.
I am going to miss these guys a lot and if you get the chance to get hold of tickets for one of their last 2 shows, I would highly recommend getting to see them, before they are no more.
Actually Amy wasnāt there, it was her PA who actually looked a bit like her, and I bought her a drink. Amyās hubby took a phone call from Amy whilst we were next to him, and was told to get his sorry arse out of the bar as they had an early start the next morning. The drummer and guitarist and a few roadies were well up for a few drinks though!!
Go ahead with your view of things that night!!
PS I hold the right to deny anything you may say against me that doesnāt paint me in a good light!! A lot of use was made of my 50% discount card that night
Off to see The Killers at Hyde Park tonight. Will probably catch Tears for Fears and Elbow before hand (only because I want to be relatively near the front). Weād planned to see U2 but couldnāt get tickets. Otherwise Iād have worn my work ID in the hope of bumping into @rallyboy
