šŸ—£ Gigs

Every Time I Die were pretty mental at The Talking Heads last night. Ended the gig with both footprints and blood upon my person, not to mention a very tender shoulder, a sizeable bump on the back of my head and a little mild concussion.

Epic.

Waiting for the Guns N Roses tour dates to come through any day now. I think I will have to get tickets for this one.

Saw them ā€˜back in the dayā€™ - they were fucking good.

Off to see Teeth of the Sea this week. Should be full on. New album is a monster.

Headed out to Roundhouse for some heighten security (sure itā€™s the first time Iā€™ve been metal detectored going into a gig).

First half they played their new album with a film playing in the foreground. Quite haunting. Then a bit of a break and onto the hits. Over two hours too. Unfortunately a giant happened to stand in front of me.

Iā€™ve had some trying moments in recent weeks. Deadlines. Scraping an alloy on a hire car. The death of a papmobile. In all cases, a happy little bubble floats up, pops, and says ā€œyouā€™ve got Glastonbury tickets, guvā€.

And all is good.

Closely followed by, and headling 2016 isā€¦Olly Murs.

Troublemaker.

My street cred is so intact that I had to Google that joke to confirm my suspicions.

The Goat is obviously well into Murs.

Iā€™m extremely proud myself to announce I wouldnā€™t recognise Olly Murs if he walked up to me, shook my hand and said, ā€œHello Iā€™m Olly Mursā€

What is itā€¦that he actually does?

Throws pots in Britains Bakiest Village.

Annoys people? With his tedious music and ā€œcheeky chappyā€ presenting. I am getting to an age where some of the new music and people associatedwith it pass me by but unfortunately Olly just got in there before that happened.

Forgot to post it, but saw Richard Hawley at Roundhouse last week.

Really cracking show, was a bit disappointed with his latest album. Not that it was bad, I just wanted him to carry on with the more expansive sound of his last album, Standing at the Skyā€™s Edge.

Still, played all the songs I love him for, was on cracking form as usual and led an impeccably observed minutes silence (was remembrance Sunday).

Would recommend.

Went to a gig in Shepherds Bush Empire last night and got patted down by security.

I was enjoying the show (Brandon Flowers) when I heard arguing. Turned around to find a tiny Scottish woman and my partner arguing. He was saying he was standing with me. Turns out she had taken against him as he was tall. I feel for her I donā€™t see much at concerts as i am short. But I have never taken her action which was to dig him in the ribs and be abusive. He wasnā€™t even in front of her. A 6 foot blonde was in front if her! When I pointed that out to her she told me I should push the tall women out of the way. :-/ Kind of put a damper on night.

Iā€™d say i get this 7-8/10 I go to.

Yes, I am tallish (6"3). What am I meant to do? I tend to stand pretty near the back. I canā€™t lop half my legs off. If you are small, and stood at the back I donā€™t really think you can complain.

That said, Iā€™ll always trade places with someone who is so small that Iā€™m clearly blocking their way (i can usually see straight over them anyway) if they ask nicely. As opposed to taking that action.

Went to Queen Extravaganza at Pompey Guildhall last Sunday - Outstanding musicians reproducing the sound to a tee.

If youā€™re a Queen fan but donā€™t like a majority of the tribute bands and their cheesiness, these guys are a must see.

This gig was a celebration of the 40 year anniversary of A Night at the Opera. The material was all prior to and up to 1975, and I have to say, includes some of my favourite Queen stuff.

Would gladly pay to go see again.

Have you seen Queen with Adam Lambert, Mango-B?

Not really my thing, but a good mate went (masssive Queen fan) and said it was amazing.

I havenā€™t, but, likewise, I have a Queen obsessed mate who has and he rated them pretty highly too.

Off to see Madness at Butlins this weekend - also supported by Craig Charlesā€™ funk and soul disco.

Had an all company get together last week (hence why I was so quiet, Iā€™m sure you all missed me loads).

Bananarama were special guests. One of 'em was missing. It was fun, if not slightly tragic.
