Hampshire Cricket 2016

Brilliant start to the season today, we are 13-2 in the 7th over :lou_facepalm_2:.

Thankfully we only talked about attending a T20 game yesterday.

And can we make a better start to the Season at First Class level this time out, and begin to put in a challenge at the right end of the table?

So, no then.

Glad we got that one sorted out so early on. Saves on building our hopes and crushing disappointment.

Thanks Hants.

Ohhhh, hang on, wait a minute! 97-7 now. The recovery is underway. :lou_facepalm_2:

105-7 Now. McLaren fighting hard on 31, and Reece hanging in there with four.

132-7 now. At least the lads are fighting. It is dire – but it could have been worse.

When I say it could be a long season, it could actually seem quite short if current batting form continues and Hampshire end up with a few three day championship games, and possibly the odd two-dayer.

165-8 at Tea.

71 Not Out from Ryan McLaren has at least salvaged a little pride, and prevented a complete humping.

Coldest I’ve ever been at a match, so left before lunch. The fare in front of me didn’t help, so the footy seemed a better choice.

Getting a copy of Playfair (NOT Playboy before anyone asks) was the highlight, but kudos to McLaren for the recovery.

Hampshire finish on 189-8 at close of play, after bad light drew an abrupt and early end to the days proceedings. A shame, as Ryan McLaren and James Tomlinson were putting together a decent partnership, and looking like they might both stick around for a while.

Still, from the state we were in when I first loggod on and checked the thread – I’d take 189-8 after having been 88-7.

Shocking start to the campaign, but Ryan’s unbeaten 84 so far has been a commendable rescue act.

I can hardly wait for tomorrow. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

A washed out day’s play thus far, with not so much as a single ball bowled.

Though somewhat curiously, there were a lot of Hants players out in the middle of the pitch at times. It almost looked like they were tampering with the covers and doing some sort of strange african tribal-rain-dance or something.

Duckworth-Lewis to the rescue?

Wow, is it raining in Soton, it’s as dry as Mrs Btripz here in Bournemouth…

Yep. Pitch inspection again at 3pm mate. Hopefully (or hopefully not as the case may or may not be) we’ll get some play in soon.

Complete wash-out in the end. Not a single ball bowled.

Saved by the rain?

That was a better day with the bat, only eight wickets down after two days.

Warwickshire 59-3 off of 12 overs.

That’s a big wicket for Hampshire.

James Vince has Jonathan Trott caught in the slips by Sean Ervine with just his fourth delivery.

Ian Bell is unbeaten on 21 at the other end.

Cheers for the updates BTripz.

Cracking start from Fidel trapping both Openers LBW early on.

It’s a shame that Ian Bell only seems to recklessly throw away his wicket wafting away at thin air when he pulls on an England Shirt. Could do with some of their Captain’s “England Qualities” being flourished this afternoon at the Rose Bowl.

Warwickshire 77-3 at Lunch.

Destroy them Fidel. Destroy them!

Breakthrough: Ryan McLaren takes the wicket of Sam Hain, caught behind by Adam Wheater.

Warwickshire 108-4.

Wicket! – 133-5.

Tim Ambrose falls to James Tomlinson, caught by Tom Alsop.

Warwickshire trail Hants by 65 runs with five 1st Innings wickets remaining.

One doesn’t like to get too excited as 133-5 can turn into 300-6 but…this looks like damage limitation.
