In all honesty, I have been looking at TSW, and I just thought that this site needed an inocculation. Put the disease into the forum at an early stage to test the water and ensure our immunity…I have every confidence that we are immune at the present time to infection by bullshit…But if you don’t test the theory, well.

Actually, my view is pretty nuanced. Most will know that my grandfather is a Pakistani fella from Karachi. It puts you in a very interesting spot, as you not only have direct access to real life people from different parts of the world, but you also get to see white people being racist because they think you don’t give a shite (the whole “appears as white” thing). The family used to get quite a bit of shit back in the 60s and 70s. Doesn’t occur much now. In fact, the person I tell off the most for being racist is my Pakistani grandad. He’s hilariously self-defeating at times.
My cousin has just had a kid to a bi-racial nipper.
We’re chatting about the new arrival, and he says “I don’t believe in mixed relationships”.
“Grandad, are you fucking kidding?”
(surprised) “What? I don’t think they’re a good idea!”
“Grandad, you married a white lady! You put this in us! I’m amazed we’re not all in mixed relationships”.
Weird old thing, the ol’ racism. Most of it really is borne of ignorance or inherited prejudice.
