If You Could

Transfer you current standard of living/work to any place in the UK where would you live?

I think I’d quite like to live in Brighton. Always struck me as a cool city with a great vibe and it’s on the coast.

My Mrs would opt for Dorset, west of Portand.

Lived in Brighton for many years. Was back there visiting family last week. Would move back in a heartbeat if wasn’t so bloody expensive to buy there.

Added advantage is that it’s the one lone voice of dissent in a southern sea of Conservative blue.

Aside from Brighton…Bristol appeals.

I really like Brighton too.

If not there, then probably Durham I reckon.

My son was at Uni there and we visited a couple of times a year.

The people are in the main wonderfully friendly, and the student invasion makes the place feel young and vibrant.

Next to a pretty, carp laden estate lake, in a pub.

My eldest sprog is in Brighton so I get down there quite often. I think I would move to the West country - someone in Cornwall would do it for me.

who?

I’ve heard Truro Tess will for a cider and half a scone.

Blimey - she’s raised her prices.

Lizard Liz will pour you a flaggon of cider and bake you a full scone afterwards.

Though, to be honest, I prefer to drink the cider beforehand.

South Devon has some great beaches, coastal walks etc, and is also handy for Dartmoor.

But a little remote from the rest of the country if you need to get somewhere quickly.

I think I’d have to stay near the coast.

As many will know, we actually do have plans to up sticks and move when Juvenile Unit #2 heads for Uni, but it’s nowt exciting; probs just back on our way to Southampton.

Quite keen on the Isle of Wight too, but would be a pain in the arse if I ever lost my working from home arrangement.

Does this mean you’ll be redrawing that fucking Sotonians Map of Britain, Pap? :lou_angry:

So much ‘Brighton’ in here; is this Sotonians or North Stand Pap?

MK, sunshine indoors

I like Brighton too, cool city.

obviously fond of my hometown, London. Maybe somewhere nicer nearby that’s a bit less crowded. Actually, Ruislip, where I grew up is pretty great.

like Yorkshire too, strong family ties there and lived in Leeds for a few years.

Often talk of moving to Manchester too, as that is girls hometown.

biggest problem for me is my industry is pretty London centric.

know it’s uk based, but would love to live in Barcelona or Berlin for a while too.

To be fair, Brighton would be my pick too. Bit of everything good there and a fair absence of most things bad. My lady went to uni there and adores it, so it fits.

That said I’d hope it wouldn’t be for a while. For all its foibles central Southampton suits me to the ground at present.

I could easily live in Southampton again. The old maxim applies. You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. I’m also older and settled now. Many of the things that were attractive about Liverpool are now liabilities :lou_sunglasses:

I also miss hearing my own accent
