Everton fans to fly ‘Bill Kenwright OUT’ plane over St Mary’s

Everton fan groups will unite on Saturday to demand that owner Bill Kenwright leaves the club.

Fans have raised the funds for a plane to fly over St Mary’s Stadium, weather permitting, on Saturday afternoon ahead of their match at Southampton with the message: “Kenwright and Co - #TimeToGo NSNO”.

The plane will fly over while fans hold up banners with the same message.

Newly formed fan group Everton Board OUT held a first meeting last week prior to the start of the season and it was agreed that they would display their anger at the board at the earliest opportunity.

Everton Board OUT, in coalition with fan group The Blue Union and independent Everton fan website School of Science, clubbed together as they plan to voice their concern.

EVERTON FAN’S VIEW: After year’s of excuses, it’s time for Kenwright to go

Since Kenwright formed the consortium, True Blue Holdings, back in 1999, Everton have spent an average of less than £3m net a season on player acquisitions, a total net figure of just £63m, a trend which appears to be set to continue, according to the fan groups.

Everton’s last trophy win was the FA Cup in 1995.

Joe Jennings, editor of the School of Science, revealed exclusively to Mirror Football on Friday the extent of torment that Everton fans are going through.

Jennings is one of the leading figures in the ‘Kenwright and Co - #TimeToGo NSNO’ campaign - and says enough is enough.

He said: “Fans, who have grown up supporting one of England’s greatest clubs are increasingly tired of the same old excuses from this board. The media see Everton as a well-run club, with relatively little debt, and a true blue safeguarding its future; for an increasing number of fans the reality is somewhat different.

"Sixteen years ago this board employed an asset utilisation business model, that is to say they funded the club’s activities through selling assets and outsourcing all commercial enterprises; this meant that, apart from personally buying shares, none of the directors has ever invested a single penny into the club.

“Now the assets have all gone and Everton’s commercial income, at just £12m, is one of the smallest in the league.

"It appears that instead of investing in our squad, supporting our manager and investing in our stadium, we’re having to use the vast increases in media money to supplement those previous questionable commercial strategies.

"Yet we have the grotesque spectacle of the directors looking at a possible 900% return on the £20m they paid for their shares along with their outsourcing partners feasting at Everton’s table whilst the fans go hungry, hungry for the success that is rapidly becoming a distant memory.”

The game at Southampton will take place in front of the BT Sport cameras, kicking off at 12:45pm on Saturday.
