Thankfully London hasn’t been hit that bad and they grit the roads but I walked a lot the last few days and quie enjoyed it. Can’t remember the year but it really snowed in Southampton 2013ish and I walked to work then.
We’ve been told about this cold snowy weather quite often and been told ‘only travel if necessary’ and still people pop in their car ‘because we thought we’d be alright getting home’.
TBH I got stuck about 6 or 7 years ago. Came back about 19th Dec to see familiy for Xmas, left Salisbury at 6am and caught the back of a massive storm which had come overnight (should have put the radio on).
ROads were OK until the M3 which got hairy luckily I then moved onto the M4 (heading for Essex) and cut through London.
But because of the airport carnage my flight was cancelled (23rd Dec) and the earliest they could rebook me was 28th. I know a lot of shoould not travels get ignored but some have really bad consequences.
Cost me 500 quid to rebook out of Birmingham which was the most southerly airport open.
But I can’t understand why some people yesterday were moaning on FB they couldn’t get home because they didn’t think it would be that bad and so stayed at work until 5/6pm…
