I dont usually like stuff with subtitles so have missed out on a lot of the cool Scandanavian dramas of late. Caught this one from the beginning though and it is excellent. Catch it if you can.

Bumped my own thread as the series is coming to an end now and getting more interesting and weird. Thoroughly recommended. Its on ITV Encore and there are two more shows to go.

Haven’t seen this one. But that part of the world does seem to be great at producing stuff from this genre.

Watched The Bridge semi-recently with the gf. Really great show. Though I do find it hard watching subtitled shows, I’m usually pratting around with some game on my phone at the same time (always working!). Means I miss chunks of the story.

Yeah I know what you mean about sub titles, although Mrs SOG and I have been picking up Swedish. We can both say “fuck” in Swedish now. It is the same!

Back to the show. It started off as a missing child type thriller and has now moved into a more supernatural territory. I wont say any more because I dont want to spoil it for anyone but it features a beautiful but odd forest and is getting weirder by the week.

We have a strong Swedish contigent here in the office, and large offices in Stockholm & Malmö, go over there a few times a year. It’s surprising the amount I’ve picked up without trying at all.

Especially as it is actually pretty hard to find people speaking Swedish, everyone speaks perfect English and are all too happy to show this off. This is a flaw in the show, I am just realising.

As these shows are finding a wider audience perhaps they should do them in English?

TBH SoG, everyone should just speak English. All the time.

all these foreign programmes that are on our tv nowadays. What happened to god old British telly? We have to watch their subtitled shit now but in the good old days we would send them Benny Hill. This country!

Spot on. All this foreign lingo is a nonsense. I am sure everyone will have to speak English by the end of the 21stC. It just makes sense.

Is this show anything like as good as the first series of “The Killing”?

They made an American version of it here because The US just won’t show a subtitled show, ever. It was very good, enjoyed it immensely, but I would have probably preferred the original version with subtitles.

Oh, And this.

I didnt see The Killing but now I have tried the subtitles for a while I will give it a try. I remember it getting good reviews. I love that attitude about not showing subtitles! I used to go and see subtitle films when I was younger because the French or Italians were a lot more mucky than us then. Just think of what the Yanks were missing!
