Junior Doctor goes missing

Main page of the BBC website, as sad as it is, would this be front page news at any other time? Is this cynical journalism?

It does make you wonder, but then again I was listening to Radio 2 this morning and the amount of time they gave eulogizing about the tragic Viola Beach accident was somewhat over the top too I thought. Incredibly sad but they were hardly Coldplay. They may or may not have gone on to become very popular and we will never know now, but there are thousands of bands out there who probably feel they are on the brink of breaking through and never do. A large amount of time was given on the show for people to phone in and share their memories of them! Or have I missed something and they were very well known?

I thought that as well, very sad but so very modern.
My wife used to do this as a job ie put adverts in “news”, it happens in so many papers, magazines now it makes me very very suspect of what I actually read.

Many companies will pay media companies to put a “news” article in sounding like some new discovery has been made or some star has fallen out of a bar but they will mention a product, clothing line in there, the agents and companies do it all the time.

Cynical and agenda driven and given as “news”.

That’s essentially what the last season of south Park was all about. Worth a watch.

Indeed, a whole season dedicated to one premise. Very un-South Park, but very clever.

I’m sure the no-capeshit crowd just ignored me as I detailed its brilliance, Cherts :lou_wink_2:

If Viola Beach album goes Platinum, like it definitely will, it’ll start a trend of Bands killing themselves in increasingly outlandish ways. I’m not against this. I’m actually quite looking forward to hearing that Coldplay have been fucked to death by Humpback Wales, but Joke will be on Them, cos I still won’t buy their fucking albums RIP.

Valid point about the missing girl.

In the current climate she has to be labelled a missing junior doctor.

And the band - very sad and unfortunate for those involved, but not world news I’m afraid.

Though I was interested to see in one media outlet that their next gig has been cancelled.

No reason was given but it’s probably best.

Poor article and no need for the Doctor title, they have spelt Melbourn correctly now as well.
