šŸ“ŗ Kodi/streaming/vpn stuff

I use an an app called Mobdro on my phone, tablet and Amazon Fire Stick. It has loads of streams for TV shows and movies plus channel streams tooā€¦"

So @dizzyfeet or @undefined , for us IT numpties, wtf is Mobdro, how does it work and how do you put it on an Amazon Firestick?

Have to admit to being too admittedly Technologically challenged to ask Teenage Mutant - asking only destroys the last shreads of the self respect and dignity around ā€œDad knows everythingā€ that Iā€™m clinging toā€¦

I took a look at Mobdro after Dizzyā€™s suggestion. Go onto their website and download it from there. Too many shitty versions on Google Play Store. Downloaded and installed ok, updated itself there and then. Seems to work ok without a VPN. Might be different come match day as the PL rights might require using VPN. Iā€™ve used a few VPNs recently (cyberghost, tunnelbear and expressvpn). The best ones you pay for but they are all relatively cheap.

Basically Amazon firestorm makes your normal tv become am internet tv. If your tv is already an internet tv then you donā€™t really need a firestick .

I run my normal tv with a Google chrome cast off the tablet or phone. Essentially does the same thing.

Google "how to use a VPN " ā€¦ itā€™s straight forward even for a ludite like me.

I lost you after " I took a look at Mobdroā€¦" tbf @saint-cd - nowt personal, just anything more than 2 tin cans and a piece of string is beyond me :lou_wink_2:

Iā€™ll check out your suggestions though :lou_lol:

I have Mobdro on my phone and it works pretty well.

Good to have a few different options!

With regard to VPNā€™s. I use expressvpn (the paid for version). It works out at about Ā£6ish per month and you can run it on several devices (5 I think) so plop it on your phone/tablet/wherever.

Just installed Mobdro on my tablet, easy to find the cricket this morning. Donā€™t imagine finding the football at the weekend will be so easy if you donā€™t know what channel it is on, thatā€™s one of the reason why I like SportsMania as they make finding things easy.

I use PIA as my VPN as I got it cheap off of XDA developers, itā€™s also got an option that I can use for my torrents.

One thing, the sound of the streams I have watched on Mobdro seem to be all out of synch, is there a setting for thisā€¦

This is the problem !

I set up a bookmnark which quickly take sme to the Mania calendar where I can see what channels are showing the game, then you can look for it in Mobdro.

On Mobdro, you can (in settings) filter by English speaking only and alphabetical. So when you go into Sports channels it is a bit easier to find.

This is the Mania calendar

Also watching the cricket on Mobdro, even though it was supposed to be HD the quality sure wasnā€™t HD

Kodi is a nightmare for sports and Iā€™v given up on that and now use now tv and BT, sure its an arm and a leg but I get the games, still use kodi for films etc I use nolimits as its the most updated build by far since the crackdown, I donā€™t have a vpn and donā€™t really see the point, my provider BT appears not to give a shit, VPN slows down your speeds as well.

Itā€™s not Kodi thatā€™s the nightmare for sports, itā€™s the plugins, thereā€™s so many of them that itā€™s a minefield.

Apparently you can get mobdro as a plugin for Kodi, not tried it but it might be worth a shot

Ok I was keeping it simple, the add ons are shite now and not updated since the cease and disist letters went out, they were poor before but now even worse, I havent seen a mobdro plugin but that would be great if it was reliable, and thats the key, I canā€™t be arsed with the ballsing around anymore.

There is virtually no speed impact with the vpn I use. I think itā€™s the free ones that can have an adverse effect.

As for BT not giving a shit. They might when they see there sport subscriptions are drastically down and itā€™s not really them you need to be worried about anyway.

If they do Iā€™ll buy a vpn and an IPTV subsciption, no dramas, the days of finding sports and getting a good stream are long gone, even direct debit blag sites from Saudi have 18 month waiting lists, the good times of blag sports has gone for now, streaming and card sharing basically gone within a year. It will come back though as Sky are going over to solely internet and someone will find a way or a device of hacking it.

So Iā€™ve signed up for saintsplayer but now it wonā€™t let me login as it says Iā€™m signed in somewhere from a different ip address (set up on laptop and phone but now logged out of both). :lou_angry:

edit: all sorted now :lou_smiley:

Only just come back to this thread. Glad a few of you found, tried and liked Mobdro! Someone told me about it in the same way - itā€™s good to share these nuggets of joyā€¦ except when we play crap and have no heart and the tablet gets thrown across the room and I wish there wasnā€™t an app like Mobdro that allows me to watch the Saints - Liverpool match.

Happy to be of serviceā€¦
