Leicester sack Pearson

seriously, are they crazy. All this time I thought he was, but wow!

On the face of it, a very odd decision. I can only assume that there’s something more gone on behind the scenes. Maybe Pearson was pissed off about his son getting booted out, spoke his mind (as he has always been wont to do) and got booted out himself.

Could be this, or the next level thing that clubs (like Southampton) do these days? He does speak his mind, but what a run in they had!

Never underestimate the damage that your son can do to you by displaying racism in a homo-erotic encounter with a prostitute that he allows to be filmed and distributed worldwide.

That’ll be a quiet night sat around the dinner table in the Pearson house.

Ranieri seems a pretty big-name appointment for them bros.

I think his star might be a tad on the wane, Brian. He was sacked by Greece. So I guess that’s the answer to the question: what happens after you hit rock bottom?

He’s the Italian Redknapp.

I’ve just been in the car listening to talkSPORT (I know, I know) and had to listen to the fucking cacophony of Johnny Vaughn and Micky Quinn getting increasingly incredulous.

Why?

Because the Leicester fans weren’t enthusiastic about Ranieri’s appointment. Two out of the three callers preferred Pearson. You could tell that Quinn and Vaughn were both expecting some Leicester fan to scream “Yes! We’re so excited. We’re appointing a manager you’ve heard of. Finally our day has come!”.

That call did not happen. Patronising pair of twats.

Yeah now I’ve thought about it a bit more, I can recall that tho I have heard of this bro, it was mostly because at the time, he was considered a bit of a Joke.

His track record since leaving Chelsea is really, really poor.

Even at Chelsea, you could argue he underachieved. Mourinho took the core of that team and delivered what he couldn’t; a league title, and largely with players Ranieri had bought. He did alright at Monaco, got promoted in year one and finished second in the French top flight in year two.

I think he might actually do alright at Leicester as long as he realises what sort of job it is. He has been used to working with world class players. He’s not going to get that there, but he has almost certainly got better “pull” than Pearson when it comes to contacts.

The Leicester fans have probably got Sven in mind, and even though Sven was a bigger name than Ranieri (here, anyway), he took the job when they were in the Championship. Raneiri has instantly got a better shot of building a decent team by dint of the league Leicester are sitting in. He built the core of what Mourinho won the title with at Chelsea, so he knows his players. It’s always been what he’s done with them that has been the problem.

His last result was a doozy. Greece lost 1-0 to the Faroe Islands. After the game, the Greek FA president made an apology, saying he took ‘full responsibility’ for making ‘the most unfortunate choice of coach.’

Greece - of all places - had to sack him by paying up half his 1.6m euro contract. He’d been in post for less than four months, didn’t live in Greece, didn’t know the players, played systems like 4-2-4, endlessly tinkered (surprise, surprise)… etc.

So what was Leicester City’s owner thinking? I have an idea they won’t be chanting his name after this deal, not that…

‘There’s only one Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, one Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha…’

…is ever likely to catch on.

Is anyone offering good odds for Leicester’s relegation?
