Lenovo z500 issues

Barry, I’ve had so many issues with my own Lenovo laptop that I’ve given up using it.

HTH

They are a barrel of crap, it anything comes of this it should serve as a warning to people to steer clear of this shite make.

Should have listened to Uncle Pap.

It’s the old saying, “buy cheap, cry on two football forums at different points of your laptop’s life”.

Don’t be prick, pap. I thought you was a computer? Surely you can help Barry with this, I bet you know exactly how to do it!

The problem I have is that I’m a complete dumbass when it comes to computers (and one or two other things) so when they continually freeze up, crash, or run like treacle, like my Lenovo does, I’m never sure whether it’s the hardware, software, or me at fault.

Having said that, I’ve not had as many problems with previous laptops as I’ve had with my Lenovo.

Anyway, I’ve found that my iPad is sufficient for anything I need to do online, and that it’s more convenient and user-friendly than a lap-top.

Top marks to Pap for trawling through archives to prove a point, good work, though a little worrying.

But my favourite bit was the thought of living in a posh part of Liverpool.

So many comedy avenues open up, I’m spoilt for choice.

Meh. A vague memory and a site specific Google search will do you right.

Harry Enfield & Carla Lane?

The agony of choice, more like :lou_smiley:

You mention the automatic repair loop. Is this Windows automatic repair, or a Lenovo one? If it’s the former then Windows is trying to load, so yo ushould be able to get into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key before Windows starts. If the latter, then you need to get into the system settings (probably by pressing the F2 at startup, though these things vary); from here you’ll be able to run diagnostics on the system.

I’m a bastard when it comes to other people’s computer problems anyway. Rest assured that if I had an instant answer for Barry, he would have it. Judging from his original TSW thread, he’d ignore all advice and do something else anyway.

I’m probably being a bit harsh on him as I have family members that do the same thing.

e.g.

“Do you think I should do this inadvisable thing?”

“Er no. Don’t do it. No matter what”

(six months later)

“I did that inadvisable thing anyway! Can you get me out of all the shit it has caused?”

Grr.

Just dropped it off at the tech shop where I found a helpful chap in a rain man sort of way, hard drive failure or windows screwed, he’ll call this afternoon, I let the lads on here know el pronto as I know they’ll be up the walls with worry.

Is it fixed yet Barry??

FWIW sometimes it can be very hard to trouble shoot a problem unless you have the actual bit of kit in front of you! Fowllyd mentioned F2 to get into BIOS but it could quite equally be F5 or Del or F10, until you see the splash screen on the laptop you ain’t gonna know.

And saying “Drop into BIOS” or “Drop into Safe Mood” to those that don’t know the vernacular can be equally as frustraing to both sides.

The f keys ie f8 etc etc doesn’t work on this.

Plug a keyboard in.

The blue screen of death this is sometimes known as, I can get bios from the lenovo button but go into the automatic repair loop, it’s goosed.

Have you actually searched for this problem online, Bazzington? There are normally plenty of other people that will have encountered, and perhaps solved the problems you are experiencing.

Stop trolling pap! His laptop’s fucked!

I love Lenovo’s, my Yoga 3 is a masterful piece of kit…

I have had a Lenovo for three years and it works like a dream. But then I am not Barry.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be a fan of their setup at all. Typical overbearing vendor filling up your machine that you neither want nor need. One of their handy “setup” programs was a huge security hole.
