Making the move away from Apple

You’re missing the point, apple does what I need, my phone is 4 odd years old and I am still happy with it, for me that speaks volumes.

Upvoted from my macbook air

People don’t want to customise, they want things to be easy and work.
That’s the beauty of apple, windows and Microsoft and all that wankdom is that wankdom.
Most people want simplicity and a functional laptop etc not a tardis or something that requires 74 updates every lunar moon cycle to post on a forum.

To be fair, Apple are appalling for updates…and the point is, some people want simple, but a lot don’t.

A lot of people don’t want simple? What can you do on your phone that an iphone can’t do? And what do you do on your phone that an iphone can’t do?

I’m a bit fucked having bought Tom tom apps for half the world. Id like to leave apple but can’t face having to repurchase all that lot.

The Mrs changed from Apple to Galaxy a while back but hated it and has gone back to Apple now. Horses for courses I guess. I was an android person but with Apple now and prefer this over my old HTC phone but things change all the time.

I think a lot of the trouble is often the vendor-altered versions of Android served up on most devices.

Stock Android, as Google intended, has become a thing of beauty over the last couple of years.

Okay, I have a tatty old iPhone 4S but, like Barry, I find it works fine for what I want and I have a load of apps on it which I don’t really want to repurchase.

My biggest gripe with Apple is their fucking iTunes nonsense. For an organization that seemingly prides itself on simplicity, I find the whole file interface between my windows laptop and iTunes to be astonishingly irritating. I guess, if I was using a Macbook, I wouldn’t have these problems but I don’t and, as a result, I seem to spend untold hours trying to get the things I want on my phone actually on my phone, and then iTunes does a whole load of things I didn’t want or expect it to do.

Why can’t it just be like windows, where I can drag and drop? For this reason, I’m tempted to switch…

This is the bit that really pisses me off I have bought a programme / App I should be able to transfer it to any of my new devices without paying a new fee or downloading a new licence. I have already paid for it so surely I technically own that bit of software and should be able to place it on any device i own.

Been 4 weeks now and whilst I’m not regretting moving away from Apple, nor am I blown away but the S6 Edge.

Biggest annoyance with new phone is that the text group chats I was in with people who had iphones don’t work now, as they all have imessage which isn’t supported by andriod. That’s been overcome by moving the chat to WhatsApp.

Also, when emails come into the standard email facility, they are white. Once you have read them they are whiteish gray. The colours are so similar you can hardly tell the difference, which I find a bit odd. Apparently there are email apps you can download that offer more options, but I’d rather that the default email facility did this. I can live with it though.

I’ve not attempted to do much with the music I copied across yet, but whereas it was all in albums in the iphone, it’s copied them across as individual files, so I guess I’ll have to sort the tracks back into album groups at some point.

I used to be the first in the queue for a new phone, now I have a battered iphone4, it works and I can get the internet and that’s it for me.

My daughter could not understand why my new upgrade iPhone 6s was just sat in it packaging for 3 weeks before I opened it. The reason, my other phone was just about still doing the job for me.

I stuck with Samsung for years until a few years back, but really like the iPhone has all I need in one place. Yes yes, that is what Apple want I know.

I have to say the 6s is the best iPhone I have had and they get better every upgrade. Not sure where any of these mobile phone companies go next, but we will see.

The stupid fuckaty predictive text on this Galaxy is getting right on my tits. At least the iPhone predictive text uses some logic and common sense and it seems to learn from the user and adapt accordingly. I swear this thing is intentionally trying to make me look like a twat.

Meh, my iPhone is doing the same to me. Not sure if it is the Model (6+) or the newer OS updates (got both around the same time) but it’s gotten noticablty worse lately.

*Most of my posts are on my phone, so you can usually witness this for yourselves.

If you aren’t already using SwiftKey, give that a go.

I know for a fact that it can make twats look like non-twats, but whether it can make complete twats look like non-twats, I’m not sure.

I downloaded it a few weeks ago, after having it’s virtues extolled by my former boss who is now an employee at Swiftkey, and have yet to actually set it up.

I fail at life in so many spectacular ways :lou_facepalm_2:

You spend too much time playing your own levels to see if you can complete them…

Do you type or swipe, if you type I would suggest you swipe as that is much quicker, you might have to switch it on first in the kwyboard settings though…

P.S. Hows the Colorado Beetle infection going?

This is curiously compelling…

Pah, standard headphone sockets.

Shit anyway.
