The Ayatollah is away tonight and I have found myself considering buying a Lotus or a '68 Mustang. I think this maybe the start of a rather wonderful midlife crisis.
I haven’t had one yet - a mid life crisis that is…
Have been too busy raising the kids. The youngest should be leaving home in about 2 and a half years. Have always told them we’d sell our house, buy a 1 bed flat and then piss the rest up the wall travelling around the world.
A bit premeditated, but it’s going to happen, probably not quite like that though…
If you know nothing about classic cars you need to find local expert advice. Google for the local car club specialising with the car you have in mind. In the Southampton area there’s a strong following for classic American '50s and early 60s cars. Not sure about Lotus but '60 & '70s cars have a poor reliability reputation…especially electrics.
Read lots…don’t be in a hurry and follow expert advice…don’t let your heart rule your head.
Bollocks to gas guzzling cock substitutes…get yourself a Cipollini NK1K - this one is mine in process of being built up… pick it up end of month…
My Midlife crisis ischeaper than sports cars… just
Thanks for the advice, though I’m not sure I should be encouraged here. I was looking at a 68 gt350 thinking that £56k was probably a good deal. I think shagging someone might be cheaper!!!
Just cant bring myself to tell Mrs Ferret the grand total (have been secretly buying parts all of last year so only got frame to pay for this month… but that conversation is still scaring me…
Source one in the US…more choice and cheaper…dry states/no rust…shipping from California surprisingly inexpensive. Delivered to Southampton Docks…easy.
That reminds me of a tale about a bloke who said that his only fear of dying was that his missus would sell his bikes for the amount he told her he paid for them.
This is indeed teh challeng I now face… but they do say tis better to ask for forgiveness than permission…I am still going to be fucked though and not in the pleasent way
Well…you see… er… that is sort of what I have ben doing thelast couple of years… my 2014 Trek is only really the frame now… which is being replacedby this frame… only all the group is new Dura Ace Di2 9070 collect last year… and new saddle and bars…To be fair, both frames will share the wheels… for the time being…
@areloa-grandee has hiding places. There’s a front-wheel suspension fibre-glass number in the toilet cistern that Mrs Ferret knows nothing about, and never will.
