Mindgames in football

Fergie and Jose are masters of the wind up. Look how Keegan lost the plot when Newcastle were well ahead of United in the Prem a few years ago. Is that what we are seeing more of now? Other clubs leaking stories to unsettle other players so that the team becomes unsettled? Perhaps we should employ someone who is just as good in this pschological battle that now seems to be the thing to get an edge. Or am I just dreaming up a new conspiracy theory?

“Perhaps we should employ someone…” Err, are you suggesting we should sack Koeman, or are you leaping ahead to the day Koeman’s contract ends and we need to employ someone new? Just to be clear.

My view on this: Koeman’s style is perfect in every way.

No not suggesting that we should sack Koeman at all. I think he is the best thing to happen to SFC for a long time. No, it was a tongue in cheek remark suggesting that she should emply someone in PR for “dark operations.”

Winding people up is one of the four things I’m good at. I can’t do it here to its fullest extent. I will take that job.

You were made for the job Pap!

It only works on simpletons. We should employ intelligent belligerent footballers and confiscate their mobiles.
