More contract extensions

Southampton confirm that England goalkeeper Fraser Forster, 28, signs a new five-year deal and midfielder James Ward-Prowse, 21, pens a six-year contract.

Some more good news I think

Fraser is def a good move, JW-P really, really needs to show his pormise. I know he is still young but…

Awesome

Sending a very clear statement ahead of silly season.

FF was one I was probably most concerned about losing - his return to the team made a massive difference.

The best is yet to come from JWP I’m sure

Sayeth the Forster

Forster told Southampton’s official YouTube channel: “"I’m delighted. It’s been another good year for the club and I think there’s real ambition around the place and it’s good to be a part of it, so to commit and sign a new deal is unbelievable and I’m just looking forward to getting stated again.

"Every player wants to keep moving forward in their career and for me especially I’m very ambitious, and I think at this club there is that real ambition and desire to keep moving forward and improve year-in, year-out.

“If you look at just last week with Virgil signing his new deal, that was obviously positive news and after last year and then this year it’s obvious things are moving forward and hopefully we can keep doing that in the future.”

Sayeth the Player Barry Rates the Most

Speaking to Southampton’s official YouTube channel about his new deal, Ward-Prowse said: "I’m delighted. When I knew I had the chance to extend my stay here it was a no-brainer for me.

“It’s pleasing that the club have shown that they have faith in me to extend my stay and I want to repay the faith to the club for putting their time and effort into making me the player I am today.”

Woo-hoo.

My prediction of JWP being our next one club man has been given a few years lease of life. You just know it’ll end up being him, what with him being from Pompey and all.

I’ve been a big fan of Frase ever since he joined. Completely changes the team, not just with his own attributes, but the confidence he gives further up. It also helps that he kick a ball accurately without falling on his arse.

I’ll give this one another roll-out, initially done after the Man Utd game, in his honour.

Top news, this week just keeps getting better. Add in Morgan losing his international spot. Now we just need to grab the Europa spot, finish above Scousehampton and we can all go out and get hammered

I am getting hammered regardless,

only another week of living the life of Ryley before work kicks in again.

JWP will be one of those pro’s who lives off an inswinging corner whilst putting his hand up, the lad has one more season and then its time to simply call him gash.

I didn’t realise you had opinions on JWP, Bazza.

Prowsey, it’s on you. One year to turn on the flash or you’re gash.

tbf, that does go at a fair old tilt.

Baz if only you watched matches rather than text updates of matches. WBA obviously and the revelation that was Liverpool. The boy has some new found oomph

Excelllent news all round. Three first-teamers signed long contracts, at least one of whom I was worried about losing this summer.

As Bucks says above, let’s demolish Palace on Sunday, guaranteeing we finish above Liverpool and maybe overtaking West Ham as well. Fuckin’ A.

Oommph, has he been on the gary’s?

Forster is a huge signing.

Just imagine Arsenal or Chelsea sniffing around him this summer, that would have been a fricking nightmare.

VVD seems to be the catalyst for extending contracts and when a Dutch defender commits his future to the club I’m hoping it tells us something about his manager’s intentions.

Best yet to come from both of them. That Fraser could still improve is actually quite frightening!

Easy to forget that Ward-Prowse is still only 21. We’ve certainly had our fair share of late-blooming midfielders (that neither Schneiderlin nor Lallana have gone on to big things isn’t our fault) and time is still on his side.

I surely can’t be the only one to have noticed that JWP has added a bit more ‘bite’ to his game this season? It directly lead to the 3rd goal in the epic Liverpool comeback.

You are not. I mentioned it above :lou_lol:
