Re-watched The Prestige last night with my eldest. Needless to say I had to explain some of what happened to him at the end, but man I love that film.

Saw The Girl On The Train today. Emily Blunt puts in a shift but it was generally disappointing.
Watched Spy. Melissa McCarthy being fat and a heroine
Pretty much all she ever does. Kind of wastes Jude Law & Jason Stathamā¦
But then annoyingly it brought a wry smile to my face at times & even one laugh.
To be honest, it is risible fare BUT Jason Statham over acting & playing a Twat did become amusing.
1/10 but would pass the time on a flight to Italy better than playing Lotto
ā¦ sometimes no words are neededā¦

Itās an excellent movie, very enjoyable
Just watched Spotlight which is about Boston Globe newspaper investigate Catholic priests abusing kids and the Catholic Church covering it up.
It won a few awards. Really well done. makes you angry that they did and likely still are getting away with it.

The wintry feel to it gave it such an atmosphere, just felt the baddie was a bit too soap opera villainesque, but apart from that excellent
Caught The Girl on the Train yesterday - it was fine. It was a bit like a feature-length episode of Eastenders but with prettier people, but Emily Blunt was great as a character struggling with alcoholism. Probably one to wait for on DVD if iām honest.
Itās quite a lean time for movies unfortunately. Thatās smaller independant films etc. 
Funnily enough I saw Emily Blunt on the train today, she did mention that you put in a shift but were disappointing

Watched Trumbo today. Bryan Cranston was pretty good in the lead role. Another one that made me angry. Ridiculous witch-hunt for ācommiesā.
Great actor poor script, really missed the mark

Watched The Infiltrator last night. Very good crime / true story / 1980s film
Stars Bryan Cranston (of Breaking Bad), John Leguizamo and Diane Kruger. Tells the true tale of a US federal agent who first hits on the idea of following the money generated by drugs, instead of the drugs themselves, in 1986. Goes undercover at great personal risk to expose the big hitters and the bank (BCCI - then the worldās 7th largest bank) financing all the huge inflows from Columbia into the US.
Well acted, authentic 1980s style with a good soundtrack and increasingly tense as the film progresses. There is some āactionā but its sporadic - the film is more about character studies and building up the tension as the risk to the key agent (and his family) keeps ramping up. Film was only released here a couple of months ago but struggled for cinema time as a number of Blockbusters and kids films hit at the same time. Well worth a watch, a good 7/8 out of 10 for me.

Anyway my point is that it is almost worth a rewatch now as a Time Capsule - David Niven, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, Ronnie Corbett, Bernard Cribbens, Graham Stark, Orson Wellsā¦William Holden, George Raft, Jean Paul Belmond, heck even Peter OāToole, Burt Kwouk, David Prowse (no less) and Stirling Moss
And then the ladies Deborah Kerr, Ursula Andress, Jacqueline Bissettand othersā¦

Within the risible context of the film, there are some magical moments - We forget that classic āThe Look of Loveā was written for a āsteamy sceneā between Peter Sellers & Ursula Andress - So wrong now as it must have appeared back then
Inside the awfulness are some classic comedy lines on opening Mata Hariās lair her daughter āMy thatās a big bedā āThe German Army was very big at that timeā was one of my chortle moments I can remember.
It was so close to being a comedy classic, but like many of Woody Allenās early movies theyād all dropped too much Acid I guess to make it work properly.
But well worth a watch to notice how despite being shit they kept Le Chiffe, Vesper Lind et all in the story line.
Have to say Spectre was a lot less shit than I expected.
Yeah the Blofeld / Bond moments werenāt that good, but overall it was almost an old fashioned nearly cerebral spy movie.
Maybe why it wasnāt so popular as youād need a couple of GCSEāS to follow it which meant the Trump voters didnāt like itā
