As for Love Thy Neighbour - I got three mins in before I was wincing too much to continue, even as a social experiment.

What were they thinking?

It was deeply offensive at the time.

It surprized me with its viciousness - and done without any hint of irony. Maybe more surprizing was that they found black actors willing to do it... then agin I guess opportunities were much more limited for balck actors at that time on mainstream TV... but shocking production.

Currently the 3 girls who live next door have obviously been having a few vinos with some mates and playing some sort of dance music (not sure what as not down with the kids etc). I should have popped around first day and mentioned how noise goes around the flats awfully (it doesn't). At what time can you shout at them over the balcony?

After 11.

Love thy Neighbour was completely accepted at the time sadly.

ITV were trying to replicate "Til Death do us part", which featured a racist Alf Garnett character.  The figure was supposed to be ridiculed much like Al Murray (The pub landlord does now) or Nigel Farage.

Rallyboy posted this 19 August 2016

The Alf Garnett problem was too many people thought he was a top bloke - ITV seemed to go full racist on Abuse Thy Neighour and created something that didn't even look like it was pretending.

It was indeed accepted then - but why, I do not know.

Thankfully most people have moved on.

Do nothing, you'll just look a cunt.

Wait and your other half will deal with it(friendly and out going). She'll decide who she likes and who you can talk too. It's the safest and easiest way.

I am now in a position to mark this post as "the solution". It's quite exciting as I've never done that before......I'm going to do it now.

I still haven't moved into my new house. In fact, I don't even have a house I'm buying anymore. It's all gone to shit.

thanks baz. We sold in April and moved out at the end of August. Was meant to move in Sept, then Dec then Jan and now not at all. Went to see a house on Saturday. Waited for the estate agent, no one showed, rang them and turns out the house is sold and they just didn't tell us. Bunch of arses.

...and that's why we haven't moved house for 30 years. Resonable people turn into cunts when selling a house.

Moving house causes much anguish when Fatso realised the new neighbous had taken dramatic steps to avoid his moving in

Fatso posted this 24 July 2017
