NFL safety boss says the league could ban helmets one day

Hmm, there is an element of “I’m protected” because of the helmets but surely removing helmets would change the way the game is played completely.

I’m all for safety, don’t get me wrong, but surely education would be better suited in this instance?

Interesting idea. Certainly there is an element of “I’m protected” but can’t see them ever taking helmets away.

Seems a little bit crazy, as the smack heads together all the time. Also the helmet is a major part of the identity of American Football. Very iconic.

Mental sport. I work with a former NFL player. He’s around ten years older than me, big dude, and has some serious health problems. I have often wondered whether all that “protection” does more harm than good.

It won’t happen for a long, LONG time if it does. It’d end up being like Sarcastaball (look it up).

It is a bit mental. My teenage son plays it and is pretty good at it but it does worry me. And it is one thing his mum, if she was still alive, might not be happy with me for letting him play.
