People with absolute delusion concerning property

Its tickles me when people value their house at a Mayfair price when really it should more of a Coronation Street value, I understand you barter but Jesus what are these people told or what are they looking at?

Your house is worth more money than Barry Sanchez can afford?

Most houses fall into that category to be fair, it’s the delusion in what the people think their house is worth, it works both ways as the bellends who want a 9 bedroom house in Chigwell for £23.67 on Location really fuck me off as well.
Whoppers.

They will be the people who believed the bullshit from the estate agent who came in with the highest valuation to get the agency. In a month’s time when no-one has shown an interest the agent will recommend a price drop due to a “softening market” and hey presto it sells.

Try again in a few weeks Bazza - they might be a bit more amenable to a deal

You say that but a house is worth what someone will pay for it - down here that tends to be above the asking price.

I don’t think you barter for it Barry, this is like exchanging chickens and the like for it. I know houses are cheaper up north but still.

Oh no I bought and moved in June, it’s a house just down the road from me, this fellow estimation of this gaff is rather above what it should be.

I agree but I know they are not going to get this, down South is a different market in many places.

I am very happy with the property market, having bought our house in December 2010 for ÂŁ180k and sold it for ÂŁ285k just 3 months ago. Fucked off op north and cleared all our debts. Love it.

You are right though, I would not have paid £285k for our house, but some London boy who’s missus was getting a job in Cambridge and he was carrying on his job in London thought differently, thank goodness!

Also the problem is, if the property is overvalued by the mortgage company, then when it gets independently valued by the company that the buyers are trying to obtain the mortgage from, the house sale will collapse, because it is clearly overvalued.

So the saying, only worth what someone is willing to pay, does not work when a mortgage company is thrown into the mix.

Is this thread about Barry being secretly chuffed that his house is worth more than he thought?

We are currently renting a place in London. After 6 months she said she wanted to sell. Great. 2 agents came around and one put it on at 650k for a 2 bed flat. That was end of May and had 8 viewings. Price has dropped once. She has asked another agent now. She will have bought it many moons ago so any thing she gets will be an increase. My friend has said her house in South London has gone up 100k in 2 years. It’s all a bit crazy and the agents get to make a nice profit for showing people around a house.

Property is a sure fine investment. In just over a year we made ÂŁ150k on 2 properties one in Southampton and one in Royston. Ok we are renting now, but debt free for the first time in my life. We will re enter the property ladder at the end of 2016. I would suggest that people get a property and rent it out rather than a pension, as you will make money on it over a 20-30 year period, without a doubt.

The market’s certainly volatile.

My ex and I bought a small 2-bedroom house in Hedge End for ÂŁ157k in mid-2013 - and that seemed a bloody lot. When we split at the start of 2015, identical houses on the same road were already selling at ÂŁ180k and just above (so not even a speculative valuation).

No la, my house is smaller than this one and I think my value is about right.

How anyone can afford a nice house and a nice standard of living and also brong kids up is beyond me.

Barry’s not in the closet, Lou. Careful.
